Yet again, the Guardians had been watching me. They have been since that day. Yet again, their cold, unreadable eyes sent shivers down my spine.

But better them than their leader.

Adonis.

I shivered just thinking about him. He was a vision of perfection, Ryan. That's his real name. None of us dared to call him that to his face.

We knew better.

Even though there was a divide between the Guardians and the rest of us, I felt close to Adonis. I mean it in a soul type of way.

No matter where I went, his eyes could be felt. The feeling I got when I looked into them was forever etched into my memory. As shameful as it is to admit, I can honestly say that I wanted to look into them again.

 Stop it, Keaira!

But I couldn't.

And I was about to get my wish.

I wasn't paying attention.

To others, it may have seemed as if I was just wandering past lockers and classrooms, but I knew - somewhere deep down inside - that I was being drawn to him. A part of me felt as if he knew what I was thinking and what I wanted.

I'd always dismissed that.

Adonis was undoubtably capable of many things, but he was still a person.

I was knocked out of my daze when I bumped into another person and fell backward on my butt. Of course, it was him.

"You should be careful", he said, looking me directly in my eyes.

I swear to you, he was like an addiction. Looking into his eyes was like floating on cloud nine. I had to do it. It was like magic. I felt like I'd been given something special when I looked into his light brown eyes.

They were framed by long, pretty lashes. The reflection of my dark brown skin and nearly black eyes was clear. Inside the cold depths of his eyes were secrets of the soul inside. That's why they were always steely and unreadable. That's why they were cold.

"U-um...", I stuttered (I've never stuttered). "I'm s-so sorry, Adonis, really. I didn't mean it. I-I-I-"

He cut me off.

"First off, call me Ryan. Adonis was just some stupid, over-glorifying nickname. Second, like I said before, you need to be more careful. It's alright, just be more careful. Don't let thoughts take over and cloud your judgement. Focus is key."

I nodded as if to say "okay" and he walked off.

But not before one last look in his eyes.

Did he just give me advice? Or was it a warning? And I can call him Ryan? OMG, OMG!

It didn't really matter, because he was right.  But I couldn't help it. I truly was addicted to those eyes.
