THE UNEXPECTED : Chapter 3 – My Rival?
I opened my eyes, and bam! That was my imagination. He never kissed me, nor did I kiss him. So, practically I was imagining myself kissing him when I was closing my eyes trying to manage my self-control. We never kissed, and that disappointed me.
I stood up, ready to leave this table. It was awkward surrounded by the ‘it’ people. But I was there because of my big love to him. I had been in love with him since the sixth grade, no wonder it was so big, wasn’t it? “Where are you going?” Mark asked me. I was a bit flabbergasted the minute he said that. Did he really say that? Did the really mean that he wanted me to be next to him? Gosh, my dream came true!
“You…you really wanted me to be here?” I asked him with wide eyes. He looked at me for a while before shaking his head. “Um, not really?” why was all his answers turned out to sound like a question?
“Well I was planning to go to my best friend’s place,” I told him while pointing at Janet, who was grinning like a dumb kid. He took a quick glance towards my bestie, before nodding his head a little bit to fast. “Yes, yes. Go there,” he shooed me. Really now, was that the proper way to treat a woman who was terribly in love with you?
I scowled at him and smacked him playfully on his forehead. What? I was in love with him, but that did not mean I couldn’t smack him, right?
“Oh how you love me so much that you even don’t want me here so that I would be safe. How sweet,” I said sarcastically with no expression on my face. He looked shocked for a split of seconds before he understood my sarcastic remark. Really, was he really that dumb? Well I guess the hotter the guy, the dumber he is.
I walked away from their table, but before leaving them, I shot a glare at Ryan the look that said ‘Challenge accepted. Back off, he’s mine’.
* * *
This was the only class that my hubby and me were together. Music. Yes, and currently, Ms. Bailey, my Music teacher was scribbling down group names for our project. You may say I was fidgeting and nervous that time. I was filled with hope because maybe, just maybe, I could be in the same group together with my leprechaun since if we choose our own groups, I was pretty sure Mark won’t choose me.
Ms. Bailey stood up, with the list on her hand. She started to read the group, as I felt my body slightly shaking and sweats forming in my palms. “Karen Williams and Robert Lambert, Quinn Bennett and Jonathan Myers…” the next thing came out of her mouth was a blur. It wasn’t important for me, though. What was important was if she said “Allison Carter and Markus Thompson”. I clenched and unclenched my palms as she goes by.
When I decided to smack my head to my table, I heard her say “Markus Thompson and Victoria Bells” and I was like ‘what the hell’. No, no, no. That should never happen!
“Fuck you all,” I muttered softly that only I could hear it. “Could you please repeat what you just said, Ms. Carter?” Ms. Bailey asked me with those threatening eyes; well maybe I didn’t say that quiet enough. I heard some chuckles from nowhere. I scanned the class really quickly, and when my eyes made contact with Victoria, I glared for a few seconds before returning back to Ms. Bailey, “Oh. I didn’t say anything,” I confirmed.
She looked skeptical for a while, “Really? I heard you say something,” she said her eyes still looking straight through mine, searching for signs that I lied. I sighed and shook my head, “No, Ms. I didn’t say anything,” I gave her my best innocent smile. It was about the confidence you show. If you assure the person, it will be harder for he or she to know you’re lying.
Her eyes left mine and back to her list. I slumped down in my seat as my hope was now shattered. I wouldn’t like to hear anything more. She said few more unimportant names, before she said something that shocked the hell outta me. “Allison Carter and Ryan McLean,” I jumped on my seat with that. Really? I was in a group with the man who tried to steal my hubby? Yeah, I would like that.
