(Y/n's POV)
I look at him from a distance. When I see him the music to the dance is drowned out and I can't tear my gaze away. I didn't realize how long I was starting until my teammate comes over. "Y/n are you ok?" She asks and I look at her and nod. "I'm fine." I reassure her. She smiles and nods. "Good. I'm gonna go dance with the other members. Your welcome to join anytime." She says and walks away.

I nod and look at Mercury again. He's talking to his teammate Emerald. He looks so happy. Maybe he likes her. He'd never like me that's for sure. I look down at my cup of punch and sigh. "How come you don't love me like I love you?" I whisper under my breathe. I take a sip of my punch and sit down on a near by chair. He doesn't realize how crazy he makes me.

I hum to the music lightly and sigh again. I'm tired of this game of emotions life plays on me. I take glance at Mercury only to see him kiss Emeralds cheek. I feel an aching pain come across my chest. It feels like my heart just shattered. I feel tears prick at my eyes threatening to escape. I drop my cup as my hands start to shake. I can't take it.

I run out of the dance and to the woods. I would go to my dorm but my teammates would see me crying. I climb up and tree and hug my knees crying. How can I fall in love with someone when they're from a different school. It wouldn't work out anyway so then why do I feel this for him. He probably doesn't even find interest in me. I cry more as the pain in my chest only worsens.

-during the Vytal Festuval-

I walk with my team to a noodle stand. It's now the two vs two point and I have to go against Mercury's team. This can't be any worse. Wrong. He's at the noodle stand right now. ,"Hey I-im just gonna go get a water I'm not hungry." I say and I wasn't lying I wasn't hungry but the real reason was so I didn't have to be near Mercury. "Your sure? You can't fight on an empty stomach." I nod. "Yeah I'm sure." I reassured my team. "Alright." They say.

I walk away to the Drink stand. Before I can get far u hear my team say. "He's been acting weird since the dance." Daniel says. (Making up names deal with it) "Yeah I'm getting worried." Stella replies. "He hasn't been talking much maybe something's bothering him." Julian adds. I sigh and set to the stand. "Water please." I say and the man nods giving my a bottled water. I hand him the money and walk around taking sips from my water.

"Hey y/n!" I hear someone call out and turn to see team RWBY. "Oh hey." I say. "Good luck on your battle." Ruby says. "Thanks." I smile a bit. "Good luck on yours too." I say. They nod and walk. I see Mercury stride in my direction. I try to walk away but before I can get far I hear him call my name.

I want to cry again but not in front of him. The aching pain returns in my cheat and I turn towards him trying to keep my composure. "Ready for the match?" He asks smirking. God why does he have to be this handsome WTF?! I nod trying to hold in my sobs.

"A-actually i-i should go b-bye." I say quickly my voice shaking. His smirk turns into a frown and I run away before he can say anything. "Hey y/n what's wrong?" My teammates ask.

I burst into tears and cover my face. "I can't do it." I say. "hey hey calm down ok. What can't you do what happened." I explain to them what happened at the dance in between sobs. "Hey it's alright if you want I'll take your place in the battle you don't have to fight if you don't want to." Julian says. "yeah it's your choice man." Dan adds. "P-please t-take my p-place." I plead Julian crying. She nods and hugs me. I hug her back trying to calm down.

-during the fight-

I watch Mercury and Emerald fight Dan and Julian. Stella rubs my back as I slouch. I look down and try to keep the tears from coming back. I hear the buzzer go of signifying that someone got knocked off. I looked up at the giant screen to see Dan's face with a red X over it. I look at the fight and see Julian fighting Mercury and Emerald. The buzzer goes off as Julian knocks Emerald off. It's only Mercury and Julian left. The buzzer goes off again as Julian gets knocked off.

I get up and walk with Stella to meet up with Julian and Dan. When we all meet up Julian hugs me. "I tried to teach him a lesson for hurting you." She says. I smile a bit. "Thanks Julie. It means a lot to know that you tried" I say. "You're welcome y/n" she says smiling.

I see Mercury and his team walk up to us. I look at him for a second only to see him frown and look away. "Good match." Emerald says. "You too." Julie says.

"I'm gonna go." I say and walk away. Why do I have to be so weak when it comes to love? Why does life play these emotional games on me? I look down and stuff my hands in my pockets. "This sucks." I mumble.

-during the Fall of Beacon-

I run to find my team. "JULIAN?! STELLA! DANIEL!!" I call their names. Where are they?! I see a Grimm charging towards me and pull out my weapon. I go to strike at the Grimm until a certain grey haired boy shoots it with his boot gun. Why now? "Y/n.." he goes to say. "Stop you hurt me enough." I say.

He looks taken aback by my words. I sigh and hold my weapon tightly. "You really don't know. Mercury I loved you since I first met you when you came here. But when I saw you kiss Emerald's cheek at the dance I've been in pain. Now if you'll excuse me I gotta find me team." I say and go to walk away.

"What no y/n that's just a misunderstanding. I was whispering something her I didn't kiss her." He says and I turn to him again. "Then how come her face went red?" I question. "Y/n I told her that her crush likes her back I was doing her a favor." He says.

DANGIT Y/N!!! "Oh." I say. Mercury walks to me and smiles. "If anything I'd prefer to kiss you." He says and does just that. I blush and kiss him back. HOLY HECK! IEHDKZUEKDHDK! He pulls away and smiles. "Go find your team and then meet me at the school courtyard." He says and I nod.
