Coffee and Birthday Presents (Bartholomew Oobleck x Reader)

I yawn as I make two cups of coffee. When the second cup finishes I get up and take it from the coffee machine. I turn around to see Bartholomew, my husband of three years, behind me. I smile tiredly and hand him the second cup. "Thank you sunshine." He says kissing my cheek. "You're welcome." I say and sip at my own cup of coffee.

It's Saturday so he has the day off. We decide to visit the town and look in different shops. As we walk in town I see a small shop and point to it. "Bartholomew let's go there." I say smiling. He nods and we visit the shop. I look around at different things. I turn as something shiney catches my eye. I look to see a beautiful jeweled necklace and smile.

I look at the price and my face drops. I can't afford it. Well maybe another time. I smile and look at Bartholomew seeing he's already looking my way. "Let's go look around more." I say and we leave the shop to go look at others.

(Bartholomew's POV)

Y/n was looking at that necklace. Maybe I should get it for her for her birthday. It is a few weeks away and I'm sure it'll make her happy. I love seeing my beautiful sunshine happy. I smile and hold y/n's hand happily as we look at different stores.

Le time skip to Y/n's birthday

I go to the kitchen seeing y/n's back turned towards me. I walk up behind her making sure to keep her present behind my back. She turns around and smiles holding out the cup of coffee she made me. I take it and place it on the table behind her.

She looks at me confused and I hold the box containing her present out to her. "Happy birthday love!" I say smiling. She smiles placing her cup on the table and take the box. She opens it and her expression turns to one of excitement and surprise. She looks at me and smiles happily. "How'd you know?!" She asks.

"I saw you looking to it a few weeks ago at the store so I made sure to get it before anyone else." I say. She kisses my cheek and hugs me happily. I hug her back and pull away to help her put the necklace on. "You're the best Bartholomew. I love you so much." She says and holds my hands. "I live you too sunshine." I say and kiss her head.

"Now let's do something today and I'll let you choose what we do." I say smiling. "But what about work?" She asks. "I got a substitute. I wouldn't miss your birthday for the world." I say and hug her. She hugs back and thinks. "Let's finish our coffee and go get you something and I'm not letting you say no." She says and pokes my nose.

"Are you sure?" I ask and pick up my cup of coffee. "Of course I want to see you happy as well you know." She says. I smile and we finish our coffee. I love this woman so much. We get ready and go out to town. I'm getting her something on my birthday since she's getting me something on her birthday.
