❁ 24. Alternative ending

I woke up in an empty and unfamiliar bed, trying to remember what happened. Ah, they had to lock me away.
"Finally, my dear. Took you long enough this time." Klaus said as he entered the room and I confusingly sat up and looked around. From the looks of it it seemed like late afternoon. "Where are we?" I asked concerned. "London. Amaya portaled all three of us." He explained and I got up. Clothes of mine were neatly folded at the end of the bed. I took them in my hands before I turned to the door.

I stopped at the door and turned my head to Klaus, who was standing on the balcony, looking outside. "Am I a danger to my family?" Klaus also turned his head to side and shook his head. "Of course not. You are my wife and there's nothing you'd ever to us. Your magic is just making you a bit... confused." I nodded and then went into the bathroom to get ready.

Seeing Amaya downstairs on her phone with a worried look on her face made me realize that she deserved better than everything I could ever give her. She was my daughter and I loved her, no matter what. But putting her in danger every minute, every second is not what my love should do to her. Amaya hung up and then walked straight towards me to embrace me in a hug. "It's gonna be okay, Mom." She whispered and I nodded. "That is why you need to go back. I can handle it from here." She let go of me and stepped backwards.

"What?" Her voice began to tremble. "Amaya, you are my everything. Your happiness is what matters to me most. My love for you is deeper than anything in the world. And that is why I need to be safe at home." I whispered with a quiet voice and I felt Klaus' eyes from behind me. "Now go." My voice began to shake. "I talked to Marcel. He will take you and Hope out of New Orleans." I smiled sadly. "Mom, you can't do that." She protested and I took her hands in my own, before opening a portal behind her. "You have to live. Please. I love you." I whispered and a minute later she was sucked into portal, leading her to the compound.

"Sara and Sophia told us. You were unconscious for days and time seems to be running out. We don't have another year. They are all coming for us, now. Sophia is leading them away from New Orleans." I slowly nodded as I turned around to him.

"The ghosts of your ancestors are gone, but the spell is still intact. It'll protect the compound as long as Sophia or you won't cut off the magic." He added and we went into the living room. "I need you to do me a favor, Nik. A big one." I whispered as I looked at him while he was preparing a map on the table with figures. Klaus looked up and looked confused. I got around the table and went to shelves to find the knife. After I found it I went back to Klaus, standing now next to him.

"When it's time I need you to take this knife and stake me with it. I'll let out a scream so powerful and hurtful that it could harm even an original." Klaus took the knife and eyed it before his eyes filled with worries and he began to shook his head. I placed my hand on his cheek. "I could never hurt you like that!" I kissed his cheek and nodded softly. "I know. But I need you to do this."

Klaus and I discussed this for a while and thankfully, he gave in, even though he doubted he could go through with it. Then he explained to me how most of his family's enemies planned to attack them and how they failed miserably in the end. He also mentioned the group of Mystic Falls which Caroline Forbes was apart of and how they tried to take them down with Mikael. Though they failed as the Mikaelsons found a way to stay alive he somewhat feared that a few of those new enemies could pull the one or other move as the pathetic group back then in Mystic Falls.

But they didn't knew what I was capabale of and I was more than ready to show them. Klaus and I went through a portal back to New Orleans after Elijah called to say that Hayley wasn't back from her trip to the bayou and he began to get worried as she didn't return his calls.

I wanted to a try a locator spell in the same moment as the wolf queen rushed into the compound, looking completely fine. After we explained our worries she just sighed. "Sorry, I won't scare you guys again." She mumbled and then looked around in search for her daughter. "Marcel picked up Hope and Amaya and with the help of one of Amaya's portals they are in hiding. We don't know where they are and Marcel won't tell us for their safety." Elijah explained and Hayley just nodded.
