"Sans, we already know Frisk had a bad dream."
"But Tori, did the kid tell you what they dreamed?"
"Yes, she said she dreamt she killed everyone."
"Then-"
"Sans, I already know your suspicions." Toriel places a pie down on the table with a loud clatter. Frisk was listening to Sans' and Toriel's argument from the top of the staircase with a blanket wrapped around her, since she just woke up.
"Tori they're not suspicions!" Sans says. "Chara-"
"Sans, Chara died a long time ago, along with my son. It's impossible that you've fought her."
"Tori, I'm sorry if I've upset you, but it's true and you've fought her too and she killed everyone!"
"Sans, I don't want to talk about it anymore. You should leave before the child hear's us."
"Alright Toriel. I'll leave. I just wanted to warn you, I wouldn't if it wasn't important." Frisk heard footsteps and saw Sans open the door and leave. Frisk stepped down the stairs slowly and walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning my child!" Toriel brightened from her grizzly tone the moment she laid eyes on Frisk. "Did you have anymore bad dreams?"
"The same one as the other night." Frisk mumbled.
"I am sorry Frisk. It must be hard watching that," Toriel says, resting a hand on Frisk's head. "But don't worry my child. It is just a dream. Would you like some pie?"
"Yeah!" Frisk smiles as she chews on some Butterscotch-Cinnamon pie. "Mom, I heard you and Sans talking." Toriel's face darkens, and she turns away from Frisk.
"My child-" Toriel starts.
"He wasn't lying! It's true! Chara..." Frisk finally knows the name of the girl that haunts her dreams.
"My child, go to your room." Toriel says coldly.
"What? Why?" Frisk asks.
"Just, please go to your room."
"Okay..." Frisk mumbles. She trudges up the stairs, enters her room and flops on her bed. I wonder if... if I could talk to Chara now... Frisks thinks as she buries her head in blankets. Where's Flowey? Frisk wonders, she turns her head to her dresser, looking for the flower. Oh right, he's with Alphys,
Why do you care so much about that flower? A new voice enters Frisk's mind, the one that matched with the girl with the green sweater's figure.
He's my friend!
Oh, is he really? He doesn't really think much of you.
Once he's Asriel, he'll be my friend.
Oh, will he be Asriel again?
Of course!
Not in this timeline.
What....do you mean? Frisk was suddenly very worried. You know I'm not going to rest!
Oh, do I? Well, let's see whose right after tonight.
Frisk suddenly sat up, sending the room spinning. She's... gonna make me reset tonight! I need to tell Sans. She opened her closet and scrambled into her favorite sweater. Then she opened the door and peeled outside, unsure if she was supposed to leave or not.
"Frisk, my child, could you come down here for a moment?" Toriel's voice rang up from the kitchen. Frisk went downstairs and looked from behind the doorframe. Toriel was sitting at the table, a hand on her hand and another holding a cup of tea. "Frisk, I'm sorry I got mad, I just don't want to speak of Chara. It brings back bad memories."
"I'm sorry." Frisk says. "Can I leave?" Toriel gives her a sad smile.
"Of course my child." Frisk puts on her coat and rushes out of the door. Without hesitating, she rushes to Sans and Papyrus' house and pounds on the door. A few moments later Sans opens the door.
"Heya kiddo." Sans says. "If your looking for Papyrus, he's training at Undyne's again. Which is weird because there's no one to fight."
"Sans, Chara is going to try to make me reset tonight!"
"Are you sure kid? 100%?"
"Yeah! She told me!"
"Follow me for a sec kid."
"Okay..." Sans steps out the door and walks behind the house. Frisk followed quickly, she saw that behind his house was door. Sans took a key from his pocket and unlocked the door.
"I didn't know you had a door here!" Frisk says as Sans pushes open the door.
"Good, that means I kept the secret well. Paps keeps asking me what's behind this door but I never tell him."
"Why not?" Frisk asks as she follows Sans into the room.
"Because.... well... I don't really like revealing anything about my past." Frisk gasps as the room comes into focus. It's a small room, and there's multiple drawers fixed on one of the walls. At the far end of the room there seems to be a machine covered with a old blanket.
"What's that?" Frisk asks, pointing at the machine.
"It's my dads old machine. Before he went crazy and I had to shove him into the void. Yeah, good times."
"What's the void?"
"It's a place in Waterfall." Sans rummages in a drawer for a second then pulls out a piece of paper and scans it for a second. "Okay, so, according to this Chara has done exactly 16 Genocide routes."
"WHAT?!" Frisk screams. "16...that's...how come I don't remember?"
"Guess your memory was wiped afterwards."
"O-oh. I'm so sorry..." Frisk wonders why she was saying sorry so often now.
"Kiddo... no need to apologize I understand. It's fine, you know. Since you spared us, but you have to promise me kid that if you do reset you'll try to spare us."
"Of course! Why would I do anything else?"
"I feel like Chara's not going to enjoy seeing you spare monsters," Sans turns around and faces the machine. "I don't think your going to be in control much this time."
