well at least for June McCall it was.
the ten-year-old girl only had one friend in the whole elementary school.
had as in past tense her only friend Mandy had left her last year when she moved back to England so she and her parents could look after her grandparents who became sick.
even then June didn't think of Mandy as a friend because Mandy only stayed for a year then left again.
I mean it could be a lot worse at least June wasn't being bullied.
she was an outcast
she was a loner
she wished Mandy never left her
she wished she didn't have to sit alone at lunch every day...
