I wanted to give recognition to tickatocka Tumblr page who gave me some inspiration for this imagine.
I tapped my foot impatiently as I waited to board the airplane. To try and pass the time I checked my phone, however, I soon got bored. Putting my phone down I decided to people watch instead. I looked to my left to see a family of 3. A mum, a dad, and a daughter. The daughter was sleeping in her pram, much to her parents' relief. Letting them be I look to the right of me to see an elderly man reading a newspaper. Across from him I see a young man on his phone. I couldn't help but notice how incredibly handsome he was.
After staring for a minute or so the airline called that the plane would be boarding now. I got up and lined up. As the line moved slowly I simply just listen to those around me and their conversations to keep me entertained. After waiting in a slowly moving line and getting my ticket checked, I was finally walking down the tunnel onto the plane.
The air hostess took me to my seat in first class. Traveling for work did have its luxuries. I was traveling from London to Los Angeles for a book signing of my new book "the anthropic principle" a historical period horror book. When we had reached my seat I sent the air hostess a thankful smile. As I sat down, I notice there was a person sat next to me. I looked to my left and saw the handsome stranger from before. My eyes found themselves wondering to the book he was reading. I gasped making him looked at me worryingly. Smiling I say to him,
"Sorry, it's just that you're reading my book" He smiles and looks at the back cover of the book, which has a picture of my face. He looks at this picture then back at me. He laughs,
"This is so strange!" We both laugh at this unlikely circumstance. "Do you know what though, I really like your book. And I'm not just saying that because you're sitting right next to me, it's genuinely the best book I've ever read!" I couldn't help but smile as I thanked him.
"I'm Ruben by the way. I already know you are Y/n" I Blush, at the thought of him already knowing who I was.
"It's very nice to meet you Ruben" Our conservation reached its natural end as the safety video started. Once the informational video was over, they informed us that we would take off very soon. As the plane made its way towards the runway I looked at Ruben to see him clutching the side of the armrest.
"Scared of flying?" I ask. He looks at me, his fear evident in his eyes.
"Is it that obvious?" I nod, sending him an apologetic look. This must be hard for him.
"Do you want to hold my hand? I find that holding someone's hand helps me when I'm nervous" He sends me a thankful smile and grabs my hand, interlocking our fingers. When the plane started taking off his grip on my hand got tighter. Damn, I thought, he was really strong. As the plane's wheels came off the ground he suddenly looked out the window. I could see, and feel how this was making his fears worse as we got further and further away from the ground. "Ruben, just look at me. It's all going to be okay. The pilot is a professional." Ruben stopped looking out the window and looked into my eyes. I smile at him, doing my best to calm his nerves. For the eleven-hour plane ride, Ruben and I did nothing but spend time with one another. We chatted about our jobs and interested. Together, we watched both the Deadpool movies and Frozen. When the pilot announce that we were going to be landing in a mere amount of minutes I felt my stomach drop. I had really come to like Ruben, as not only was he handsome but he was also so kind and funny. As we land, Ruben and I have what I assume to be our last ever conservation. Ironically, it's on the same subject as our first ever conversation, my book. We talk about my book signing and what was next in my career.
When the plane finally landed I gave Ruben I hug and wished him well during his time in LA and went on my way. My thoughts for the next couple of days were clouded with sadness. I really thought that there was something special between us. However, on the day of my book signing, I was determined to make an effort for my fans hence why I tried to only think positively. I go to my book signing, smiling in appreciation to the hundreds of people who showed up. As I walk into the bookstore I see some very excited faces, making me laugh. I still wasn't used to being "celebrity". As I got to around the one-hundredth person in line I was exhausted but I was determined to keep going, and at a high energy. "And who is this one for?" I say in an enthusiastic voice ready to sign another book.
"Ruben" My breathing hitches. It can't be. I look up at see that it is indeed Ruben from the plane. I get up from behind my table and hug him.
"You came!" I said, practically gleaming. Ruben returns my gleam.
"Of course, I wasn't just going to let you slip out of my fingers." I feel my heart start beating faster. "Look Y/n I know we just met but, I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date with me." I smile at him
"Ruben, I would love to"
