The next two days were agonizingly slow.
Reid's hand on my face, the look in his eyes, everything about our last moments together were plaguing my mind making me have a whole new set of feelings I've never felt before.
I wanted to.. be closer to him. I wanted to see his expressions, hear more about his family, about the pack.
On the second day I was wondering what time they would all get back. I kept glancing at the front door of the clinic at every sound outside knowing he wouldn't even stop by the clinic all of places. He'd probably go right back to the pack house. Maybe he was already there?
I cursed at myself for being so obsessed. But I was excited, I felt more alive than I had before. I couldn't explain it to you myself.
I shook my head in an attempt to clear it. The rest of the day was disappointing. Dinner came and went and before I knew it, I was sitting in bed with a book in my hands. My work from the day was slowly making me lose track of consciousness and I finally gave up and snuggled up in the covers of Reid's fluffy bed.
I had woken up early the next morning feeling more anxious than before. They had to be back by now. I was completely dressed and ready to head downstairs when the door connecting the apartment to the main house thumped against the door frame.
I walked towards it and carefully opened the door to investigated. I threw open the door in surprise when I spotted Reid laying back against the wall opposite to the door. His foot must have hit the door in his sleep.
Why was the alpha sleeping on the floor outside of his own quarters? He could have at least slept on the couch.
"Reid"
"Reid" i repeated when he didn't wake at my first attempt.
His face contorted into a sleepy annoyed expression. "hmm?" he mumbled still half asleep
"What are you doing out here?" I asked kneeling down next to him.
"Kat" he said with a small smile on his face.
My cheeks must have been bright red at his shortening of my name. The way it sounded from his lips make it seem like he's said my name all his life. The corner of his lips were curved slightly into a smile as he watched me with droopy eyes.
Reality seemed to hit him in the next few seconds and he awkwardly shifted and sat up straighter.
"Shit" he mumbled sleepily as he stretched out and stood up.
I watched him silently wondering if I should even ask
Reid got to his feet and stood in front of me looking at me as if he had something to say. His hand gripped the back of his neck and I tried not to stare at his muscular arms.
"What time did you get back last night?" I asked curiously
"Probably around midnight"
"Why did you sleep in the hall?" I asked looking down at the hard wooden floor he had curled against for most of the night.
"It's fine" he said brushing the topic off "Come with me, I'd like to try something"
A mix of nervousness and excitement rippled through me as he motioned his head signaling me to follow him. We walked side by side down the hall and out of the pack house. It was so early that the grass still had an early morning frost on it making a crunching sound as we walked through a field towards the forest.
Reid yawned and stretched his arms and back. He was about a full foot taller than me and his strength and status as alpha making him seem like a true force of nature. Even when he was just waking up he seemed like nothing could stop him.
