"Ow!" I screamed clutching onto my ankle which really didn't hurt at all. I tilted my head down and began to blink really fast and hard to create tears so everyone would think that I actually hurt myself some how on that front aerial.

"Maddie what happened!" Abby yelled.

"I was doing my front aerial and when I landed my ankle rolled," I kept on fake crying.

"Can you stand up?" Abby asked. I pretended to struggle standing up but collapsed back to the ground. Abby came over to examine it.

"Does this hurt?" she asked gently touching my ankle. All though it didn't hurt in the slightest bit I still said yes.

"Well it doesn't look like you're gonna be able to compete this weekend," Abby said helping me hobble into the den, "Chloe! looks like you have a solo this week come into the studio in 2!"

Abby assisted me into a seat and elevated my not injured ankle.

"Mads, are you okay?" my mom asked coming down the steps from the viewing room leading into the den.

"I don't know, Abby doesn't think I can dance this weekend," I explained.

"Since Kenz is done why don't we a go home?" my mom said. Her and Kenzie ushered me into my moms car and headed home when they got me situated into my bed I called Gino.

"Hey!" I said when he picked up.

"Hey Mads what's up?" Gino asked.

"Nothing just sitting at home," I said as I flipped through channels on my tv.

"You're done dance awfully early," he said.

"Oh yeah, I'm injured,"

"Why are you saying it like that?" he asked.

"Because I'm not really. I pretended to hurt my ankle landing my front aerial in my solo so I wouldn't have to dance head to head with you," I explained.

"Maddie!" he exclaimed, "why would you do that?"

"I thought you'd be happy so one of us wouldn't have to lose! I was saving our relationship," I fought back with him. I couldn't believe he wasn't thankful for what I did for him.

"Maddie, we're both dancers were obviously going to have to compete against each other at some points but we can't let that stuff get between us, didn't we promise?" he said.

"Oh yeah I guess we did, I forgot. But next time we go head to head I promise I'll actually do it," I reassured him.

"No I want you to get that solo back," he said.

"I don't know if I can, Abby already gave it to Chloe," I said.

"Well at least tell your team the truth," he said, "well I have to rehearse my solo I'll talk to you later, bye."

I hung up the phone. Gino was right I had to fix this, and fast because competition was only two days away!
