A fresh start. That's what I needed. A new life.
After my 21st birthday, I decided to move out from my parents' house, a familiar place in the middle of the big and modern city of Seoul, where I had grown up and where all my childhood memories will stay. Now here I was, finally going to my new apartment that I had recently bought, ready to change myself.
My bestfriends Hoseok and Jungkook came with me to help me with the boxes and all the stuff I brought. In fact, Hoseok's car was full with my things and we were sitting in the middle of that mess.
"Y/N you better buy me lots of food after letting you use my car everytime". Hoseok said, glancing at me briefly with a little playful smile on his lips before returning to look at the road, his eyes focusing on the surrounding as he turned left.
I knew Hoseok in elementary school during second year. He had just changed school and he was sitting all by himself at a table while playing with some legos so I just went there to play with him and that's how our friendship started. Fortunately we even were in the same class in middle school and highschool, where we met Jungkook and now we were inseparable.
I turned to the backseat seeing Jungkook looking at his phone, probably still playing videogames or chatting with his friends. He suddendly looked up tilting his head, as if he wanted to ask something.
He scratched his nose. "Why are you moving out?" He asked making Hoseok sigh as he lowered the volume of the radio. "I don't rememb-".
"Maybe if you stopped playing your videogames for a second and pay more attention to what she said literally 10 minutes ago you would remember." Hoseok said in a calm voice as the other one apologized and put away his phone.
"I wanted a new life. I want to change something in my life for the better and be more indipendent. My mother now found a new boyfriend after my dad's passed away and I thought of letting her having the house for themselves." I told him again as I looked outside at the cloudy sky.
There were other reasons for me to move out, like my ex-boyfriend for example. He would costantly call me and text me on my phone so I bought a new one and changed my number. He would always try to find me while I was outside with my friends and cause a scene, saying he loved me and wanted me back but I wasn't buying that anymore. He dumped me for another girl, or more precisely girls, telling me he never loved me after one year of being together and dating, leaving me and my heart broken.
It has been two years since he broke up with me and now I was perfectly fine, I didn't care about him. I tried to date someone else but every single one was a jerk so I just decided to change and be happy about having two amazing and caring bestfriends with me.
Hoseok leaned forward to look outside as he slowed down on an empty road and then he tapped my shoulder, bringing me back to reality. "Is this where you will be living?" He asked.
I looked outside at the white building at our left, it seemed to have only four apartaments in it. Some plants were hanging on the balconies beside one, probably the one I will be living in from now on. I took out the paper where I had the photo of it and I nodded. "Yes it is.".
I got out as the boys did the same, Jungkook yawning and stretching his arms in the air and Hoseok ruffling his hair as he looked at the last floor. "Okay then, let's bring the boxes in Jungkook. Y/N you can go in and check the apartment, we will do the though work." He said before opening the boot of the car.
"But Hyung! I'm tired and I still have to finish the last level!" Jungkook whined but the elder slapped the back of his head before giving him a box and filling it with the things that fell out during the trip.
I smiled at them and entered the building. It was really simple and neat, the white walls seemed to shine as I walked up the stairs towards the second floor where the door of my apartment was.
I opened it slowly and my eyes lit up seeing the nice living room, quite small but I immediately felt at home. There was a black sofa in front of a tv at my right, some old cds were scattered beside it. I turned my head to the left and a little kitchen welcomed me, the counters of a dark colour.
I trailed my feet on the light parquet, walking to the window in the square living room, and my eyes caught something strange: there was a lilac glass vase on the floor next to the window with white lilies in it. They seemed new and quite fresh and it seemed quite strange since I was sure nobody lived here, as the old lady who own this building told me.
I was about to touch and examine them but two voice echoed and filled the room I was in. Hoseok put two boxes on the floor as he let out his breath and Jungkook put down the ones he was carrying and went out again only to come back shortly after.
They might have brought everything up here so they didn't have to go outside to the car to get the boxes. Lazy dorks.
"Thanks guys I don't know what I would do without you two" I exclaimed and hugged them. "I will treat you for lunch next time!". I could see Jungkook's eyes sparkle as I said that.
They stayed for a while before they decided to go back to their houses. Now I was all alone in this silent house. I thought that watching tv wasn't a bad idea so I turned it on as I sat on the couch.
But not short after I heard a strange noise coming from the other side of the wall, where I supposed the bedroom was. It was like something fell making a faint noise, followed with a few thumps.
My heart started beating like crazy. I am the only one here, who could that be?
