A week passed and things were going great. We were on our way back to my house from buying groceries. She had the radio turned up loud and we were talking, laughing, singing. Out of nowhere, completely and utterly out of the blue, a truck came and smashed in my car. On her side. The car flipped a couple of times but I wasn't scared, not for myself at least. My brain was on her the entire time. I heard her yell my name before the truck hit us, and just felt so miserable.
We were taken to the hospital in ambulances. I wasn't damaged as badly so they agreed to let me see her. I walked into her room to see her broken form. She wasn't as hurt as I'd imagined, but she was still hurt. I went to her and hugged her. As I pulled back, I noticed her look of pain and discomfort. 'You can cry if you want.', I told her. But she just shook her head, held it high, and hugged me with all the strength left in her fragile body.
