Loving a Stranger

Chapter two

Beep... Beep... Beep...Beep

"Ughhh, not again," I thought as I slowly opened my eyes and looked around the nicely furnished, but still very sullen hospital room.

My eyes landed on a slumped figure in one of the hospital chairs...oh my gosh... That hair... Those brightly colored blue shoes that he wore with everything... Please tell me it is not who I think it is.

As if he could hear my thoughts he groaned and slowly stretched, looking like he was in pain. I wouldn't blame him those chairs were worst than sleeping on the floor. My internal thoughts were silenced when I noticed everything was quiet. I slowly looked up and my eyes locked with his.

"Jason?" I asked shakily

"Ariel!" he exclaimed and wildly jumped out of the chair nearly falling on the floor.

"He looked so cute getting all excited!" I thought while I smiled at him.

"What are you doing here?" I questioned him once he made it to the side of the bed.

"I- I wanted to make sure you were okay," he mumbled as he blushed and looked away.

"Aw that was really sweet of you," I said as my own cheeks heated up, "but I'm alright, this isn't something that's actually new to me," I admitted as I looked down and fiddled with the hem of my hospital sleeve.

His eyes were filled with concern as he looked at me, his breathe shaking as he asked, "Why, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

I nodded slowly, biting my lip nervously. I took a deep breathe and looked up to meet his eyes.

"What would he do if he knew the truth?" I asked myself silently

As if sensing my internal conflict he took my hand and said," I know that we haven't officially met, but you can trust me."

I silently rolled my eyes because really?? Could he have been any more cliché?

"I'm okay Jason, really, it's just sometimes when I'm worked up over something I faint and end up in my own personal paradise," I said sarcastically as I gestured around the room.

He let out his breathe like he had been holding it forever. He look so relieved and it made my heart melt.

"That's great Ariel! I honestly thought that the first girl I really liked would end up being sick, which would be just my luck!" he rambled nervously running his hands through his hair.

My heart sped up when I realized he said he liked me.

"JASON SAID HE LIKED ME!!!" I internally squealed as I looked at him waiting for me to give him an answer.

"Well lucky for you, she's not and she should be out of here soon so you could probably take her out for a movie," I said boldly as I watched him start to smirk

"What makes you think I want to see a movie with you," he said playfully as he stepped closer to me

"Well seeing as you're here and you are the one who made me faint, I think it's fair," I teased winking at him.

A thought suddenly occurred to him as he looked around the hospital room noticing that it was empty.

I fidgeted with the blanket waiting for him to say something.

"Where is everybody?" Jason asked taking my hand.

"Well Mariah and and Jennifer are at school since it's monday and their parents wont let them visit, but they're gonna sneak in later," I said smiling thinking about how they would bring my favorite snacks and we'd watch movies.

"And your parents?" Jason asked snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh they're never around so I dont really know," I admitted looking around the room so I didnt have to see him.

"Oh, I know how you feel, my parents aren't really around much either," Jason said as he squeezed my hand.

In that moment I realized that I loved him.

My heart started to do flips and breathing started to get harder.

"Oh no! Not again!" I thought as I wildly looked at Jason as if he had some magic cure.

He looked at me as if he knew something was wrong and looked into my eyes and started to bring his face closer to mine.

"I'm gonna faint again! This can't be happening," I thought to myself.

Jason's face was inches away from mine and he looked down at my lips and said, "Ariel it's going to be okay."

And then he kissed me.
