A lot of good things happen in the summer and it just happens that this summer is the best one yet. My name is Jayde or as my friends call me Jay, and I’m 17 years old. I’m an only child and I live with my dad on a farm, my parent got a divorce when I was 12.
My best friends are Mia and Megan, I can count on both of them all of the time, and I’ve known both of them for a very long time. Mia has gorgeous long brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a tall, slim body. Megan has long black hair, green eyes, and is short.
It was early Sunday morning and I was laying in bed before I had to do my chores, when my phone went off I looked at it and it was a message from Mia
Mia: hey, you better be up I’m coming over in a bit!!
Jayde: I’m up! But you’ve seriously got to stop inviting yourself over ;)
Mia: maybe next time!
I quickly get up and put on my jeans, a t-shirt, and my cowboy boots and head downstairs to find my dad sitting at the table with his coffee
“Good morning princess”
“Morning daddy, I’ll eat breakfast when I get back from doing chores”
“Okay, see you then”
My first chore is cleaning stalls, since we own a ranch there is a lot of stalls to clean. Next I brush all of the horses, and last but not least I feed them! I’ve gotten better at this over the years, it used to take me 2 and a half hours now it only takes me an hour and a half, so by the time I finish its 9:30, I head inside and find breakfast, covered on the table since dads already gone to work. As I’m eating I hear somebody come into my house,
“HELLO?” I shout
“HII!!” answers a very excited Mia, as she jumps into my arms
“Holy!! I know we haven’t seen each other for a long time but calm down!”(I was gone to my mom’s for two weeks)
“Sorryy! I just missed you sooo much Jayy!”
“I missed you tooo!”
I clean up breakfast, then quickly go upstairs to change since jeans get uncomfortable quick, I throw on some sweat pants and a tank top. I go down stairs and to no surprise I see Mia in the living room watching ‘Cowgirls and Angels’ on Netflix.
“Haven’t you seen this movie enough?” I ask her
“You can never watch your favorite movie enough times!”
“True true”
By the time the movie is over its lunch time, I make grilled cheese, while were eating we watch a couple episodes of our favorite show, ‘Heartland’.
“Did you bring jeans?” I ask Mia
“Damn it! No!”
“Good thing we’re the same size, let’s go riding!”
After we change we go down to the stalls, I get Minnie who is a 5 year old, buckskin, mare! Mia gets Jujube who is an eight year old, quarter horse, mare, it doesn’t take us long to saddle them up and then we’re off.
We both have been around horses for our whole life and riding for practically all of it, Megan also rides, but she’s just a beginner, she’s only been riding for a couple years.
“I hope you know I’m staying the night tonight, my parents are out of town” says Mia
“Well thanks for letting me know” I say laughing
Mia spends most of the time at my house since her parents are either fighting or having a party, but we’ve always told her that she’s always welcome at our place. We rode for about two hours then headed back home. When we got home we unsaddled the horses, brushed them, and put them back in their stalls. When we get into the house Mia says
“Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you we’re going to a party tonight”
