"You ready?"
"Uh I think so"
"You smell good"
"Focus" Noonie giggled nudging Kaid off of her. "So cock it back like this?" She asked attempting to cock back the custom made gun only for it to fall on the ground.
"Not at all" Kaid chuckled swiping the gun up from the ground.
Even though the gun range was a public place, Noonie and Kaid were the only ones there at the moment, enjoying hot dogs with fried pickles and onion rings while Kaid spent almost ten minutes trying to show his girlfriend how to hold a gun.
"Well at least I'm trying" Noonie pouted. "Show me how to do it first and maybe I can mirror you"
Kaid shrugged his shoulders, cocking her gun back with ease before shooting the paper target in the head three times. Noonie watched the hot bullets fall to the ground, scanning the techniques he used.
"How the hell..."
After reloading the weapon, Kaid carefully placed the gun back into Noonie's hands, kissing her cheek before moving behind her once more, straightening her arms out to aim.
"The secret to aiming is to think of the target as something that pisses you off" Kaid mumbled. It was no surprise who he was thinking about.
Noonie shuffled a bit in front of him, thinking of her fight with Jaelah. With Kaid's help, she pulled the trigger all of three times, not even hitting the target once.
Kaid grasped onto Noonie's hips to hold her steady from the force of the gun before turning her around to face him. "I don't expect you to get it as quickly as I did, it takes time and practice...but at least you know how to cock it back this time"
"I tried the anger thing I don't think it's working" Noonie shrugged reaching over to grab an onion ring.
"Baby you have plenty to be angry about" Kaid reminded her removing the onion ring from her hands and back into the basket. "Think about everything you been through the past two months.. Focus"
Blowing out an irritated breath, Noonie stood in her stance once more this time without Kaid behind her, cocking back her gun before staring hard at the target. The paper outline of a what seemed like a man to others, became everybody that did Noonie wrong and soon only molded into one face.
Derek's.
Adrenaline rushed through Noonie's body as she closed her eyes to focus, taking herself back to the prison Ryan liked to call a home.
She took herself back to the times where she would hide under her covers at night. Wondering if tonight was the night Derek decided he wanted to mess with her and remembering the anxiety attacks that followed.
Noonie pulled the trigger once, then again and again with the force from her gun sending her backwards. All those nights of torture and mental degression, she couldn't get all of those years back, she was deprived of many firsts and lasts but most of all stripped of her physical innocence.
Her finger spazzed on the trigger as she hoped to hear the sizzling of the hot bullets piercing the paper target but instead she heard small ticks signaling she'd emptied the clip.
Noonie felt the warmth from Kaid's hands as he slowly took the gun from her hands, setting it down before turning her around. Even with her eyes closed Noonie could tell Kaid was smiling.
