The Assembly

This one shot happens somewhere after Season 3 Episode 7 Hope you like it 💕

*Andi's POV*
Buffy, Jonah, Walker, and I walk into the auditorium completely confused. Cyrus wasn't with us but none of us are too worried. He never hung around us anymore. He was always too busy, with what he never told us. I suspected he finally scored himself a boyfriend but Buffy believed he was just hanging out with TJ. Whatever the case he just wasn't around as much as I, well we, wanted him to be.
As we took our seats near the front of the auditorium the lights started to dim. Soon Principal Metcalf walked onto the stage with a hand held microphone.
"Welcome students, I know you are all wondering why we are having this assembly today as it seemed unplanned and sudden," he took a moment to catch his breath before continuing, "Well I agree this assembly is sudden, it is anything but unplanned. A few hardworking students have been dedicating their time for weeks now to bring you this assembly and I hope you all treat those such students with respect."
He glared at us and motioned for someone in the wings. We all sat there wondering who it was and why they weren't coming on stage.
*Cyrus' POV*
I gulped from behind the wings knowing that was my cue. I felt TJ's hand intertwine with mine. I looked behind to see him with a reassuring smile and he nodded his head forward. I let go of his hand and set off onto the stage.
*Buffy's POV*
I gasped when I saw Cyrus walk onto the stage. So this is what he had been up to all this time. I was almost positive he was sneaking off to hang with his new "bestie" TJ. When Cyrus took the mic he gulped and then nervously cleared his throat.
"Hello students of Jefferson Middle School. I know you are all wondering why you are here today," I was shocked that Cyrus was speaking so well in a public setting, I was so proud, "Well, that will be explained momentarily."
Cyrus dropped his eyes as he mumbled the next part, "So first and foremost I have something I want to share with you all. Some of you might have guessed others I have told but," he takes in a huge breath.
Then silence.
I look up onto the stage hoping to catch his eye. Whenever Cyrus needs confidence he looks to me. But Cyrus didn't try to find me in the audience like all the times before instead he glanced toward the wings. Cyrus' face melted from a solid nervous block into a pool of happiness in seconds.
He then glanced back towards the audience with a smile and in a brave voice exclaimed, "I am gay."
Silence.
That was all that followed.
I was frightened for Cyrus.
Then someone in the crowd started clapping and soon the entire audience joined in. It got so loud Principal Metcalf had to step in.
"Settle down, settle down ladies and gentlemen," he yelled into the mic in an attempt to settle then down.
"So," Metcalf continued after everyone was quiet once again, "this assembly is about equality for people like Cyrus. Whether it's being gay, female, African American, or something else we are all equal."
*TJ's POV*
I watched the equality assembly from backstage and was shocked at how well Cyrus did. At one point he even answered questions. I knew he could do it. At first he was a little nervous but I always believed in him.
Cyrus came from the stage with a wide smile on his face and said, "TJ! Did you see me; I was so, so..."
"Perfect, amazing, great, lovely the list goes on and on." I cut him off.
Cyrus rolled his eyes as I continued, "But when are you not."
*Jonah's POV*
Cyrus walked up to us and we all smiled at him. Andi was the first to tackle him with a hug as we all congratulated him. All of us laughed.
"So," Buffy started, "this is why you haven't been hanging out with us lately?"
"Well, um yeah." Cyrus squeamishly replied.
Andi snorted and said, "Wow, well I thought you got yourself a boyfriend and Buffy thought you were hanging with TJ."
Cyrus twiddled his fingers and muttered, "Well..."
Andi and Buffy said together, "Well what?"
At this moment TJ came up behind Cyrus and kissed him on the cheek.
"Well neither of you are technically wrong," TJ said with a smirk.
*Cyrus' POV*
Andi, Buffy, Jonah, and even Walker looked completely shocked. I smiled shyly at them as they processed the information.
The first to come out of this shocked state was Andi who immediately began jumping up and down. She had a wide smile on her face as she elbowed Buffy.
Buffy then also came out of the shocked state and smiled at me but not before she glared at TJ in a you hurt him you're dead kind of way.
Next Walker and Jonah both closed their mouths in unison and smiled at each other than at us.
"So..." Buffy started saying as she walked towards TJ until they were face to face, "You break his heart, you have me to deal with."
TJ chuckled and replied, "Oh don't worry I know you and your whole squad will take me down as a combined force.
Everyone laughed at this and soon we all went our separate ways, well except TJ and I.
TJ pecked my lips before intertwining our hands. We then walked out to our favorite place on Earth, the swings. :)
