*SHAY'S POV*
"JASMINE!" I yelled.
My heart was beating fast.
Colette and I ran after her, but she went so fast, we lost her in a blink of an eye. Fastest I've ever seen her ride.
Colette was still crying, so I comforted her, telling her that we will find her.
Maybe telling her was a mistake. We should have waited until she was older.
But we love her, and we loved how she was finally part of the family.
My thoughts were interrupted by Colette.
"Look, at these tracks!"
Tracks were deep into the ground. A bike.
"Let's follow them." I told her.
We walked for a few minutes.following the tracks. That girl could really ride. I felt so guilty, I just wished we could have started this day over, and made sure that she didn't leave.
"Shay..." Colette started.
I turned to look where she was looking.
The tracks in the ground, seemed to skid, and go in a zig, zag direction.
As if the bike lost control.
My heart started beating faster.
The tracks ended at a very deep ditch. The one I told the kids to stay away from because of the rocks at the bottom.
I slowly approached the ditch, and looked down.
There was a unconscious Jasmine, underneath her bike.
I jumped down into the ditch, scraping my knee on the way, but I didn't care.
I ran over to her, climbing over the rocks.
I lifted the bike off her, and picked her up.
Her leg was limp, and I saw blood coming out through her head.
I felt for a pulse, and she was still breathing. I felt relief wash over me.
"She's okay!" I yelled up to Colette.
I lifted her up, to hand her over to her.
I climbed out of the ditch, and faced Colette. Jasmine in her arms.
"We need to get her to the hospital."
Together, we ran as fast as we could.
Colette used her scarf, to keep pressure on her head, and to stop the bleeding.
We got to the house, and ran inside. Colette put her on the couch, while I called the ambulance.
I called Casey and Kayli, so they could come watch the kids.
The kids entered the room. They saw Jasmine lying on the couch and started crying.
"She's going to be okay guys." I told them, fighting back tears.
The ambulance came, and I picked up Jasmine, and ran her outside.
I gave her to the Paramedics, and they put her on the gurney bed.
They then, put a oxygen mask on, and wheeled her in the ambulance.
Colette and I got in the back, and we rode off sirens wailing.
I held her hand, the whole way to the hospital. We got there 10 minutes later. Thank you Idaho traffic!
We jumped out of the ambulance, and they wheeled her into the hospital.
