Once Max and Aaron arrive at the same scene where Cas approached them the previous night, Max notices that Nathan's car is still there. It's the only one. It looks disturbing to Max.
Max stops abruptly while walking, startling Aaron a little bit. Everything looks pretty much normal, considering a lot of people were there the night before. Max knew that there was a small area in the back with a few dumpsters and an incinerator, although no one ever used it. Apparently the building was something else before they put the stage in, and that was why it was there. But it couldn't hurt to check it out.
"Aaron, follow me." Max says, not adding much context, which confused the already confused wolf.
They walk around to the very back of the rather large building, where they find a chain-link fence surrounding the dumpster area that Max had remembered. 'You can remember that but not what happened last night?' he thinks to himself. Max walks to the gate of the fence, and fiddles with the padlock holding it shut.
"It's locked." The jackalope says to his friend, making sure he's still there."
"HmMm, that's very interesting, maybe we should go-" He was interrupted by Max already climbing the fence, not listening to what Aaron had to say. It probably sucked, anyway.
Max looks inside one of the dumpsters, finding no garbage but finding a pile of pipes, a baseball bat, a fly swatter, and a conveniently placed bolt-cutter. He picks up the good-sized bolt-cutter, and cuts open the chain with a "snap". Aaron, who was leaning on the gate, proceeds to fall backwards.
"Are you okay" Max asks like a rhetorical question. In a funny way, though.
"Y-yeah... That was unexpected.."
The wolf gets right back up and starts pretty much uselessly "investigating", smelling the ground and the like, like you see in movies. Max didn't really notice though, until Aaron stands up, looks at the incinerator, and licks it.
Max turns around in response to a loud yelp coming from behind him, to find Aaron on the ground coughing, spitting something out.
"Aaron, I love you, but really?" Max says, opening the incinerator, finding lots and lots of glitter and ashes inside. "Uhhhhhhhh, Aaron?"
"Yeah?" Aaron responds hoarsely.
"It looks like a drag queen died in here."
"What?" Aaron says, still on the ground, but trying not to laugh this time.
Max sighs, for there's no clues around that he could use. He wasn't sure what exactly he was expecting, anyway, he just needed to do something while they were there. Max reaches into the dumpster from before, and pulls out the baseball bat, with a nick in it near the tip. He stops, suddenly remembering everything. Cas, the basement, the Christmas lights, Shimmer and Vali, his and Cas's little kitchen-fight, everything. Now Max regrets not waking up Volio. They probably could've explained everything.
