New Year's. It can be the start of many new things: new friends, new chances, new enemies. But in our case, those things could matter less. You see, there's one very important thing that rises above the rest: love. I should know because I'm Cupid. Now, let me take you on a journey where hate turns into love, and it all starts on this fateful day- New Year's day.

"3... 2... 1... Happy New Year's!" A group of six people shout, gathered around the living room. Confetti poppers went off leaving confetti everywhere around the room. A burning smell diffused around the room.

"Maybe we should've set these off outside," Lloyd said, looking at his confetti popper, which was now hot.

"Why's that?" Asked Jay.

"Because this thing makes sparks to set off the confetti, lightning-mouth," states Nya. Jay stuck his tongue out at her. Nya stuck out her tongue back.

"Guys, guys, let get this new year started off right," Kai warned them. The two gave one last mean glance at each other before averting their eyes to the floor.

"I'm glad there has been nothing major this year and our enemies are letting us enjoy our last year of high school," Zane mentioned.

"Yeah, we get to relax and be seniors," Cole agreed with him, eating some chocolate cake.

"Guuuuyyysss don't talk about that, you're gonna jinx us," Jay whined.

"There's no such thing as jinxes Jay, lighten up," Kai told him. He was holding some cake in his hands as well.

"You say that now but just you wait. I bet someone is gonna attack us by the end of this week," Jay said and looked around the room. "And where is all this chocolate cake comming from!?"

"If you use your eyes, there's a piece for you on the kitchen table," Nya sassed at him. Jay threw up his hands muttering under his breath as he walked to the kitchen table.

"Happy New Year ninja," an old man voice said. Everyone screamed. Realizing it was just their sensei, they stopped.

"How did you get right there?" Cole questioned, motioning around the tv, which was where Wu was standing.

"A ninja never reveals his secrets," he replied.

"So what are you doing here?" Asked Nya.

Wu walked in front of the couch and sat down. "Why to hear your resolutions of course!" He exclaimed. Everyone groaned.

"Sensei who even does resolutions anymore?" Jay complained. He gave the ninja a firm look. Zane was the one who cracked first.

"I would like to improve my cooking by making it into culinary school," he stated. Everyone nodded. Cooking was Zane's dream.

Wu stroked his beard. "A very good resolution. Cole?"

"I want to increase my super strength so I can lift buildings," Cole smashed his fists toghether.

"You can increase your super strength?" Kai questioned.

"At least build my muscle mass more. What about you?" Cole shot back at him.

"I want to work on training more and become the best ninja there ever was," Kai exclaimed.

"You know you can't be a ninja forever, right?" Nya quizakly looked at him.

"And you know I'm the best ninja there ever was," Lloyd joked. He did defeat the Overlord back in ninth grade after all.

"Very funny Greenie. Do you have a resolution?"

"For you to stop calling me that?" Everyone laughed. "But for real, I want to work harder at becoming a sensei," he told everyone. Wu nodded.

"Jay? Nya? Resolutions?" Their sensei asked them.

"I want to work on improving my inventions," Jay said. "Oh, and get into Ninjago Tech University." Nya huffed and rolled her eyes.

"I want to finish reading this book." Nya held up her book.

"Anything else?" Wu asked.

"Hmmm, not really." Though, that was far from the truth. Nya liked making things like Jay and she was good with technology. She also wanted to get into the same university as him, but she would never admit that in front of him.

"Do you have any resolutions Sensei?" Kai asked.

"Just for a peaceful year." He stroked his beard. "And for everyone to become better friends and teammates." Everyone could tell that was directed more to Nya and Jay, as they were far from even being close to friends.

"More like become friends," Kai whispered. The room went into an awkward silence. Kai was a loud whisperer.

Nya yawned. "I think I'm going to bed guys. Night!" She grabbed her book and started going upstairs to her room.

"You don't want to stay up longer?" Kai questioned his sister.

"Nah, I'd rather just read my book and go to sleep." Kai shook his head.

"That girl doesn't know how to have fun."

"Good thing we do!" Lloyd exclamied holding a bottle.
J
"That’s not-" Zane started.

"What? It's sparkling grape juice!" Lloyd told everyone. They all laughed.

"Lloyd, you're too innocent for this world," Jay said coming over to get some sparkling grape juice too.

"Says the guy who's been holding on to the past," Cole states.

Jay laughed annoyed. "There’s so much more you don't know," he whispered. "You guys know that she's made it pretty clear that she hates me. And I hate her."

"Well let's not let that spoil the fun!" Kai exclaimed tossing everyone a confetti popper.

"Didn't we agree that we should not shoot these off inside the house?" Cole asked.

"Oh, we're not doing this inside." Kai raised his eyebrow and smirked at his friends.

"Dragons!" Everyone realized.

"Have fun!" Sensei Wu told them. But they were already out the door.
