Every year teachers at schools will have all kids in their junior year of high school come in on a Saturday for a meeting and today is that day I am preparing for it when all the students start to walk into the classroom and take their seats. They all stare at me expectantly so I begin.
"You guys, are probably wondering why you are here at school on a Saturday and I assure you there is a perfectly logical reason."
"Well, what is it!?" One of the students blurts out.
"It is a meeting about your soulmate birthmark," I say calmly.
"Soulmate!? What does that mean?"
"It means that birthmark you have on the inside of your wrist it matches your soulmate."
"Could you clarify what you mean by soulmate," a shy girl asks.
"Soulmates you ask are, well they are two people who are suited for each other, bound together for eternity and your birthmark matches your soulmates."
"And we are just finding out about this now why?"
"We didn't want to scare you when you were young, but now we think you are old enough this being around 16 and 17."
"So when will we meet our soulmate?"
"That is not something I can tell you for sure but when you meet them you will know and you don't need the mark to tell."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean when you meet this person whoever it may be it's indescribable it is one of those feelings you will have never have felt before. "
"What is the point of a soulmate anyway?"
"We don't really know what the point is exactly we just know they are important."
"How are they Important?"
"Soulmates mean the world to you, you would die for them, you want the best for them and they do the same for you. they help you complete yourself."
"You say they would die for you, what happens if they do die?"
"To be totally honest with you when you lose them it feels like the world is ripped away from you it's like you lose a part of yourself and you kind of do. You don't want to go on living but you know you have to because it's what they would want for you. They're waiting to meet you again in the afterlife because soulmates are for life and even after that."
"What do we do when we meet them, what does it feel like?"
"Well that's up to you really and it depends on how old you are when you meet him or her. When you meet them well for different people it's different you could forget your name, the clouds depart, stars glisten, figuratively that is so really anything could happen."
"So what you are saying is these marks we have match our soulmate who we are bound to for eternity they're important to us and you have been lying to us our whole lives."
"Pretty much, now time to go, bye."
