Mako, Winter, and her father Danted ascended the steps into the upper parts of the palace. The lower parts hadn't proved to be much of a challenge. There had only been a few guards around, about six of them, and they had easily dispatched them with their blades. As they reached the top half, they moved quickly, heading further down the hallways. He knew that there would be a larger presence of guards the further in they got. Wherever the usurper was, there would be the most guards, most like at a few dozen. It wouldn't be easy, but they would cut their way through to Kane and cut him down as well. Dante would take his rightful place once again as King of Galtea and call an end to the war.
That was their plan anyway. They had to get their first and of course survive the coming events. That would be hard enough he was sure.
Stepping around the corner, the Prince spotted four men at the end of the hallway. As soon as the guards spotted them, they drew their swords and charged towards them. Before the Prince could react, Dante let out a battle cry and charged down the hall as well, his own sword lifted high. Cursing under his breath, the Prince followed after with his own sword and Winter followed as well, her sword lifted as well.
His blade crashed against the blade of his first opponent, knocking it aside with a harsh clash. His opponent staggered a little and he brought his sword up, stabbing the man through the stomach. He cried out in pain before clutching at the wound and he pulled the sword free with a ragged pull to the side. The man cried out again as blood shot from between his fingers and he fell to his knees. The man looked up at him with fear showing in his eyes from under his helm. He brought his blade up and cut off the man's head with one swipe of his blade. His head rolled across the ground with a loud thump.
Mako turned to find another enemy, but found that the other three had been dealt with. The Princess had slain one as well, but the King had killed two, one with his sword and the other with his bare hand, twisting the man's neck to the side rather cruelly. He smiled when he realized that they could move on and they did just that, moving quickly down the hallway. They had to reach the Lord Steward and put a stop to all of this.
The Prince reached the end of the hallway and waited for his party. He didn't know the palace like these two. They had lived their their whole lives after all and would know every nook and cranny of the place. There was nowhere that they wouldn't know. As soon as they caught up to him, they veered into the left hallway so he followed behind them, sure this was the most direct way to the throne room. Hopefully they would find Kane Hawk there.
Reaching the end of the hall, he found that there were stairs there that went downwards. He followed after them down the stairs and when they reached the landing, he saw a large wooden door at the end of the hallway. There were no soldiers around and he smiled to himself. This was it. This was throne room. They'd encountered very little resistance much to his surprise. He'd thought there would've been more guards than what there had been. That was good for them, but just plain stupid for the Lord Steward and Usurper. One should keep better security around them than that. His folly was their friend though so he wasn't about to question it.
Reaching the door first, the Prince lifted his foot and kicked the door as hard as he could. He felt the wood give and heard it crack before it broke down, the door falling to the side as the three of them entered the throne room. As soon as they stepped into the room, there was the sound of lances being lowered and aimed right at their position. As he looked around, he cursed himself for thinking too lowly of the Usurper and thinking that the assault would be as easy as it had appeared. Now they were three staring down a force of around fifty, all armed with lances and armored with heavy steel armor. They didn't stand a chance against this amount of resistance. There were too many and they didn't have the ability to do cut their way through.
