We were staring at the area for a long time, trying to process it all. It's hard to believe that all of this was just in the backyard. We've been here for a long time, yet we never noticed any of it,nor the man standing in front of us.
A graveyard was all we could see, tombstones everywhere.A layer of mist surrounded the tombstones, giving off a scary vibe. This feels like a movie, none of this happens in reality.
“This is unbelievable!"Roger gasped as he took a step closer.I was out of words. That's why we see so many ghosts,so many silhouettes. They're all here, the family and who knows what other people could be buried down there. They're haunting the place and we can't do anything about it.
“What do we do now?"I asked in a shaky voice.
“Let's call the government and get out of here-"
“Wait!"Roger said, which caused Eric and I to halt.“We have to examine the tombstones."
“What? Are you crazy?"Eric asked harshly.Roger gazed at him, showing no emotion.I don't understand his actions. Why is he doing this?
“It'll give us the information we need."Roger said slowly.
“You're worried about information, during all this chaos?"
“It's our job."
“Who cares? We just want to get out of here!"Eric exclaimed as he ran away from the site, leaving Roger and I with the grounds' keeper. He was staring at me,and then his lips twitched up.
“What?"I asked.
“Master is angry.Master is going to come for you,all of you!"
“Why is he angry?"I asked in a low whisper.
“You discovered his darkest secret."
Then it all came to me.All the information we found, all the torn newspapers. The diary entries. The books, the clues and now this, this graveyard. All these weeks of investigation,we had the truth with us yet we were too blind and deaf to realize it.
Castle van Scheinberg wasn't a regular family mansion,it was a sort of mental institution. Many people had gone missing, and they all seemed to have a mental disorder, like the scientist Gerard van Schottle. He suffered from amnesia and he had multiple personalities.
Viktor van Scheinberg captured all these people and then he killed them. What I don't understand is why?Why would a wealthy man capture sick people and lock them in his castle, only to kill them afterwards.
All of a sudden, the man disappeared.Roger did too.I looked around, but I saw nothing,no trace of them.I wanted to call out Roger's name but I was too afraid to do so.I could be attacked by a ghost or so.
I ran back to the house,my heart in my throat.I ran as fast as I could, and I didn't look back for a single second.Right now I had to think about myself. This is all about surviving,it's one man for himself. We have to get out of this place before we don't make it out alive.
I entered the mansion but I saw nothing. It was completely silent, and I saw nobody.I walked slowly, making sure not to make a single sound but it was impossible. The wood was creaking beneath me,and every time it did so I closed my eyes.I am afraid of what I could see.
“Hello?"I called, but no answer was heard.I.called again,a little louder this time but still no response. As I was walking past the fireplace, someone gripped my arm tightly and pulled me towards it.When I was about to scream,I saw Eric's face.
“Eric?"
“They're here."
“Who's here?"I asked.
