Earphones on the ears, fine weather, clouds white and fluffy, trees dancing to the wind, sun getting busy blasting its rays...yes - the day was indeed perfect.
Forth was enjoying his afternoon stroll walking home from the convenient store just outside their subdivision. His left hand was carrying a plastic bag that contained purified water and some bottled lemonades while his other hand was holding a paper bag full of comfort foods. The ready-to-eat ones. Pop in the microwave then bam! Food.
His love for food came second in his priorities that his first one sometimes get jealous because he spent too much ogling at them. There was one time when he went to the food park late at night and went home at almost two in the morning still not satisfied with all the food he had consumed that before hitting the bed, he ate a big sized instant cup noodles. He didn't ever try working out so it was still a mystery for others where the food had gone especially when he loved to eat, always. He still had his tone abs whether he eat non-stop in a buffet or not.
What they the many didn't know was that his exercise came from spending too much time with his loved one, his most prioritized person in his life, and the life they had been living together.
However, instead of reminiscing the good ones, he felt a pang in his heart when he saw the mini park at the very center of their subdivision. The said place had a huge part of their lives and memories together it was sad seeing what it had become now.
Just two years ago, the park was full of life - for everyday the scenery contained children running across the field, mothers pushing their baby strollers, father or grandfathers sitting on the benches watching their kids play, there were also vendors selling a lot of varieties which was mostly food. Every afternoon was a moment of celebration and for Forth, it was always a very memorable one. Because one of those afternoons in the past, his childhood to be exact, he met the person who completed him in a way he didn't know he would ever be.
There, one fine afternoon like the one Forth was currently having, he met Beam. His boyfriend turned fiance. His other half. His soon-to-be lifetime partner.
It was such a lovely scene for him when his eyes first laid on him. Forth, being a trouble kid, loved to spend his time at one of the benches under the shady trees, sleeping. He used to cut his classes because it bored him to death. He was more of a physical person compare to the majority of his friends and classmates. He preferred kicking or shooting the ball to the goal or the ring than writing essays and computing numbers. His teachers sometimes got tired of convincing him to go back to class that they just let him roam and cut his classes. The park became his escape route since he felt the place had accepted him whatever he did when one time, he was about to doze off after staring at the white chunks in the sky called clouds when a kid in his age hit him with a tennis ball on his head. Of course he was furious because who wouldn't? It frickin' hurt. But, as fate liked to play in its free time, Forth's anger disappeared when he saw the kid face to face.
The kid was wearing a white collared shirt tucked-in in his navy blue shorts. His hair was neatly brushed to one side keeping his face clean. His skin was pale that if not for his red pouty lips, Forth would think that the kid was sick.
"I'm sorry!" The kid said bringing Forth out of his imagination.
"Oh---no. It's okay." His eyes were still glued on him studying his every features.
That particular meeting was the start of their friendship. Forth, three days after, found out his name which was Beam because he got too distracted by the beauty in front of him he forgot to ask him the first day. He also found out that Beam was practicing for his P.E class, the only class he was about to fail, when he accidentally hit him with the ball. They were two different kids yet their differences filled the missing pieces in each other.
