Chapter 10

Yah!" I hit his arm lightly, laughing. "Are you serious?"

"Yes!" he nodded, smiling. "I really heard them!"

"Are they dating?" I asked.

"Not sure," he shrugged. "You want me to ask Jackson?"

"Yes!!~" I nodded enthusiastically. He laughed and ruffled my hair.

"Okay, then," he smiled. "But first... Song choices," he grabbed a pad of paper and a pen.

"Does it really have to be a ballad?" I asked.

"No," he shook his head. "I just want it to be," he smiled.

"Oppa!" I whined. "Let's just rap~"

"Nope~" he smiled at me. "I want to hear you sing~"

"Eyy~ But rapping is way easier than singing! There's absolutely no high notes in singing, and you know I'm bad at high notes!" I pouted.

"Oh yeah!" he started laughing. 'That time when your voice cracked while singing. That was hilarious!"

"Oppa!" I whined. "Don't be mean,"

"Okay okay," he stopped laughing but he was still smiling.

"What do you want to do, AeRa?" he asked me. "Or sing, as a better term?"

"Hmm..." I thought for a song to sing. "A song by AKMU, maybe?"

"Possible," he wrote down on his paper '악동뮤지션 (Akdong Musician)'. "What else?"

"You know that soundtrack for the drama 'Reply 1997?'" I said to him.

"Which one?" he asked.

"The duet by Seo InGuk and Jung EunJi," I answered.

"Oh!! That one! What about it?" he looked at me.

"Write it down," I told him.

"Okay~" he smiled and wrote it down.

After an hour or so, we ended up with a few..

"Umm... Let's not do that one," I said, pointing to Troublemaker's 'Now'. "It's embarrassing, to say the truth,"

"Good point," he shrugged and crossed it out.

"And how did one of your songs get there?" I asked. He smiled innocently. "Is it allowed?"

"I don't know," he told me. "But it doesn't hurt to try, does it?"

"I suppose so..." I said slowly. "But the others have high pitches! Especially this one!" I pouted, pointing to JongHyun & TaeYeon's 'Breath'. "Are you trying to kill me? I'm a rapper, not a singer!"

"So am I!" he sighed. "Let's just play safe and sing GD&TOP's 'High High' so we won't die,"

"Call!" I nodded. He smiled and wrote down on the paper.

"Finally," he smiled at me. "We're done choosing a song!~"

"And now I'm hungry," I sighed.

"Just in time," he smiled. "I'm hungry, too. Let's go eat something,"

"Can't," I shook my head. "We have practice,"

"Already?" he asked. I nodded. "Did JYP sajangnim tell you guys your debut date already?"

"Nope, but manager oppa just told us we have to start recording our debut album already," I told him.

"Good luck!!~" he smiled. "You're gonna need it!"

"Thanks, oppa," I laughed.

"AeRa~" KangJun oppa called me over to him and Ayumi unnie.

"Yes?" I asked, looking at unnie.

"KangJun has a question for you, and we need you to tell us the truth," unnie told me. I nodded.

"What is it?" I asked them.

"Are you and Mark sunbaenim dating?" he asked seriously. I almost burst out laughing, seeing him. I never, as in never, saw him so serious before. It was amusing. Really. But back to his question. Why was he wondering if me and Mark oppa were dating?

"No," I shook my head. "Me and Mark oppa are only friends,"

"You're calling him oppa now?" unnie smiled.

"He told me to," I shrugged.

"I see...." she nodded slowly.

"Unnie!! It's not like that!" I protested.

"Like what?" she asked innocently. "I didn't say anything!"

"Me and Mark oppa really aren't dating!" I repeated. "We're just close friends,"

"Really?" KangJun oppa asked, a smirk playing on his face.

"Yes!" I nodded. "Ask him! He'll say the same thing!"

"We already did," oppa shrugged. "Hyung said he likes you a lot,"

"He likes me as a friend, oppa!" I said. "Don't misunderstand us! I mean... He's five years older than me!"

"And some couples in Korea have a really big age gap," unnie smiled at me. "Some couples even have an eighteen year age gap,"

"But we're really not dating," I said again. "And we have a dating ban, too, you know,"

"You can always date secretly," KangJun oppa shrugged.

"Do you like him, though?" unnie asked.

"As a friend, yes," I nodded.

"What about as more than just a friend?" oppa asked me.

"You're on the same side!" I pouted. 'That's not fair,"

"Actually, we're not taking sides here," unnie said. "We're just asking you if you like Mark sunbaenim, which you obviously do,"

"Unnie!" I whined. "Oppa is just a friend,"

"Oh really?" KangJun oppa raised his eyebrows.

"Yes!" I nodded. "We are only friends!"

"Okay then..." they smiled at me before leaving me alone, standing there.
