'His eyes were green like pine,
And well I guess you could say
I got lost in the woods'

"...Where even were you, Addie? Please don't be late like that again—she'll just keep making you write more lines. We agreed to meet out front, but you didn't show and I thought—" Harry rambled to Adeline as they walked back to the Gryffindor common room, moonlight seeping through the arched windows.
She hadn't spoken since detention concluded; something felt off. She didn't feel right at all, though couldn't exactly say anything through Harry's mini lecture. Ad felt sick, like if she opened her mouth she'd just throw up, and instead concentrated on putting pressure on the bloody wound upon her hand; as did Harry. Blood Quills were a form of torture to which Umbridge had used on them, forcing Adeline to write fifty more lines than Harry, considering her lateness, even if it were only a few minutes, discarding the letter Dumbledore had written straight into her fire, its contents unread.
As if it were the first time he looked at her during his little speech, Harry's eyes widened lightly, stepping in front to halt her walking, placing his non-bloody hand on her shoulder.
"Hey—are you okay?" He tried to catch her eye, yet she refused to meet his.
Instead of a verbal reply, she merely shook her head, wincing as she clutched her hand too hard causing a sting to arouse, squeezing her eyes shut.
"Is it your hand?" Harry queried. Ad gulped and slightly wobbled though they stood still, finally meeting his concerned gaze, she took a shaky deep breath. She needn't say anything as he could read it in her eyes.
He steadied her, noticing the small stumble, quickly unwrapping his Gryffindor scarf and tying it around her hand, wrapping his arm around her shoulders in order to keep her standing, beginning to walk again though picking up the pace in a sense of urgency.
"We're almost there, Addie, it's alright—just keep walking...nearly there...you're okay..."
With her vision fading in and out, she concentrated not on the harsh migraine she obtained, nor the feeling of warm blood oozing onto the scarf, but Harry's voice. Just his voice, whispering sweet things. Just his voice, soothing though laced with pain for her pain.
Just his voice.

Laying in her bed, eyes staring to the ceiling, Ad frowned as her hand throbbed due to soreness, resting it on her stomach. It had finally stopped bleeding, as the cloth Harry gave her barely had any more blood on it than before.
Though, like before, she continued to feel wrong. A strong migraine was overtaking her head—though it's not as if she knew what that was, her stomach queasy, though that was most likely from the sight of her hand. No matter what it was, she continued to lay awake, weakly sitting up with a single arm supporting her as she delved into a coughing fit.
And that's when it hit her.
She sucked in a desperate breath, though continued to cough as though choking. Addie's hair reached a little beneath her shoulders, yet for some reason she felt its weight lengthening, resting on her back. Looking to her hands, she saw a thick black smoke creeping its way up to her elbows to her snow-white palms.
Kicking off her cosy blanket, Adeline stared horrified as the darkness had already covered her entire body over her pyjamas. Her hands were now entirely covered in the blackness, as it crawled up her neck, soon to consume her whole...

It was the scream that woke him. Harry and the other boys of his dormitory, and possibly all Gryffindor's, immediately jumped awake from their dreams or states of unconsciousness, though Harry was the first out of bed and running downstairs.
He knew who screamed, though didn't know why. Through his yearning to find out if Adeline was okay, Harry urgently opened her door.
Though it didn't work.
Permission was the key in unlocking the door, for if he did not obtain it, the door would not budge. Not with any spell, any jinx or hex, nor with any kind of physical force. A tough kind of magic, unbreakable, produced only by the greatest sorcerer known to Wizards.
Ron, Hermione, Ginny and many other Gryffindor's piled down the staircase in confusion and slight fear, determined to find out however much they could. The three, seeing Harry by the door, pushed through the crowd to be beside him.
"ADDIE!" Harry pounded on the door, wanting to do something that could help, though they all knew it wouldn't work.
The commotion seemed to increase quickly, as before they knew it Professor McGonagall was through the portrait door and through the sea of students having cleared a path for her.
"Potter, calm down." She reached a hand to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "It won't work. Get Albus, Potter; He's the only one who can unlock this door. And quickly." McGonagall concluded, though Harry was already bolting out of the common room.
Only after the other Gryffindor's had been escorted back to their dormitories by McGonagall, with the exception of Harry, Dumbledore waved his wand in an odd sort of flick, rehearsing a secret incantation within his head, the door opening. Dumbledore had previously dismissed Minerva to her quarters to rest, so it was just himself and Harry.
A black-haired girl stood before the window, looking down at the landscape of Hogwarts. Hearing the door open, the lights turning on, she turned to the entrance. Her face was one of perfection, and it sent shivers down Harry's spine as her eyes shone with a blood red, replacing the piercing grey he'd grown to love. She smirked evilly, raising a hand to attack them, though Dumbledore had already flicked his wand, sending a white smoke toward her that covered her from head to toe. As it cleared, Adeline fell from where the demon once stood, onto the floor.
"It's worse than I thought." The Headmaster mumbled to Harry, who had already ran to wake the Riddle girl.
