Haneul stood up from the cold park bench, flicking wisps of hair from her face. It had been a long day. It was almost midnight, but she hardly felt tired, only overwhelmed. It sucked working as a stupid office manager. She wanted so badly to just quit. But how would that work? It simply wouldn't.
As she paced worriedly along the narrow sidewalk, watching the few remaining cars slide by, she heard something.
It was very quiet, in fact, so quiet she hadn't noticed it. But as she walked it got increasingly louder. Was it... No! Maybe it was. Singing. But, she thought, who the hell sings in the middle of the night? Oh, right, that's me.
But this voice was not the voice she usually listened to through those worn headphones. No, this voice was sweeter. Calmer. Gentler. But at the same time, the voice was so powerful. She tried to find the source of the sound. Giving up finally, content with just listening, she slumped onto a nearby electrical box, her head in her hands. It was when she looked up that she saw him. No earbuds, no tapping his foot, just singing. And it wasn't even a familiar song! The man, very tall and handsome, simply stood in the road kicking up pebbles. He looked a bit sad, if she was honest. She listened harder.
The lyrics, so meaningful, so peaceful, so capable of being so much more. She couldn't resist humming along to the gentle rhythm. Soon enough, her foot was going and she was singing. Louder. Louder. She sat on the bench, harmonizing with a perfect stranger. Until his soothing voice cut off abruptly. Oh no, he's not leaving! But he started walking in Haneul's direction.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it." She apologized when he got nearer.
"It's all right, I started it." She got a better look at his features now. Soft brown hair, swooped expertly to one side, mocha colored eyes shaped like crescent moons, muscular arms. She didn't realize she was checking him out until he said something.
"Yes?" The man blinked slowly and smiled. God, those dimples are killing me.
"I'm sorry. I-- your singing, it was--" she searched for the right word. "Touching."
"Um, thank you. S--so was yours."
She smirked. "I should introduce myself. I'm Haneul. Yeng Haneul."
"I'm Namjoon." He looked uncomfortably at his shoes.
"D-do you normally sing in the street? At midnight?" She chuckled.
"Um, I guess not." He nervously ran a hand through his hair.
"Well, it was fun harmonizing with you!" She smiled brightly and began to walk away.
"Wait." He rested his long fingers on her arm. Turning to face him again, she tilted her head curiously.
"I know a place.""A place?"
"Follow me."
She hesitated, but obeyed. What could it be?
Hi all, after reading an amazing story called Chai (btw go read it right now) I was inspired to write a fanfic about Namjoon. He is not my bias, but I have already written so much about Tae, so I thought a change (and a proper fanfic) was needed. Anyways, please let me know if you guys like this.
Lots of love, Vi.
See you later!
