Haneul slowly closed her eyes in the growing darkness of the winter evening. Drowning out the sound of A Song in the Night, a Korean drama, she let her head fall to Namjoon's shoulder and drifted off.
She felt his hand stroke her silky hair and she looked up at him fondly before placing her cold hand on his thigh and hugging her knees.
"What do you think of the movie?" She asked, leaning forward to take a sip of water.
"It's great."
She stood up and made her way to the kitchen. "Want some food?"
"Ya, what do you have?"
"Almonds, um, yogurt, chai, coffee, crackers, um,--"
"Anything will be fine, thanks." Namjoon startled her by placing a hand on her back. "Sorry." He took his hand away. "I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's okay." She turned to place his hand on her back once more. Grabbing a pack of chips, they went back to the squishy couch and settled under a fuzzy blanket.
"You know, this is a bit cheesy, don't you think?"
"Yeah." She laughed and turned the TV off.
"Can I hear some more music?" Haneul moved from her position so her head rested on the couch cushion.
"Of course." Namjoon laid down and propped his head up on his hand so he was above her face.
He started to hum a tune until she followed along. They made up the words, and got up to go outside.
"Rain is nice." Haneul shook her soaked hair behind her back and tried to unstick her shirt from her back.
Joon smiled. "So much for a dry shirt."
"I have more."
"Let's go dry off now." He broke the silence. They stood in the cold rain, hugging for warmth.
It was almost 7 pm. Haneul quickly changed and emerged from her room, wrapped in a huge blanket.
"Can you share?"
"No way." Haneul smirked mischievously.
They sat in her big fluffy chair, shivering for a while.
Haneul didn't notice her eyes drooping.
She blinked her eyes open and saw Namjoon's cocoa eyes smiling warmly. "It's late." She glanced at her watch and sat up suddenly.
"God! I'm- gosh-- I-" The clock read 10 pm. How did it get this late?
Namjoon chuckled at her loss for words and slid off the chair. "I should go. I have work soon."
He kissed her cheek and waved goodbye, shutting the door behind him as he walked out. Staring out of the peephole of her apartment, she watched him walk away.
