Jason's POV

"Get the right and I'll get the left." I nodded at Dick as he spoke through the coms. I tell you what, nothing beats running on the football field except for running the rooftops of Gotham and feeling so damn free. The only ting that's better than just running the rooftops is fighting someone. Not just anyone though, someone who's committed at least one crime in their lifetime.

"So, who's this girl I hear about?" Dick asked. I stopped in my tracks which almost made me fall off the roof of the bank I was on. "She must be special if you can't stop talking about her."

"Uhm, she's just a friend," I lied. Dick looked at me a 'are you fucking serious right now' look. "Okay, she's in a few of my classes and helps me from time to time, but she is also a fan of football and isn't afraid to talk back to me which is amazing to me by the way." Dick leaned against the railing for the fire escape and smiled knowingly at me. "She is also very pretty, especially in the skirts that Gotham makes her wear, like damn, oh! And don't even get me started on- wait. What's with the look?"

"Oh nothing. Just the fact that you're acting the same way I did when I found out I liked Babs," he smirked. I shook my head.

"Um no. I don't think so buddy, she's just a girl, nothing more, nothing less," I answered. Dick shrugged.

"At least that's what you think until she shows up at more of your football games and begins talking to you more whether or not she's rude or nice to you. Then she'll start to hang around you more, want to talk about things you have in common. Then she'll-"

"Okay, okay, I get it. But like, what the hell?" I said quietly.

"I don't know little bird but-" I held up a finger to shush him.

"Looks like we got a loner," I said. I leaned over the side of the building to see a random guy who looked shady enough the be a canopy following a girl.

"She's underage," Dick said. "Look at her clothes, that's a school uniform." I snapped my head to look at her again.

"Son of a bitch," I muttered. I gripped the side of the building as I watched the guy get closer. "Perci..."

"He's going in." The guy rounded around Perci forcing her into the alley next to the bank. I heard a scream then it got cut off quickly. "Let's go." Before Dick could even get the words out I was already jumping down from the roof. I landed in the shadows only to see the man holding Perci against the brick wall and trying to push his hand up her skirt.

"Hey!" I shouted. "I suggest you let her go before something very bad happens to you." The man had stopped and turned to look at me. That's when I saw her. She looked so scared. Terrified even. She had tears stained onto her cheeks.

"And I suggest you leave, hoodie," The man threatened. I rolled my eyes under my helmet. The man pushed Perci back into the wall as he held on tightly to her shirt collar. Her button up shirt was half unbuttoned and it made me sick to just think about what this guy was going to do to her.

"That's it!" I didn't even think twice. I pushed pass the guy and stood in front of Perci as I saw the man try to get up. I stood in front of her protectively as she cried.

"Please..." she whispered. Her voice was so quiet and shaky...it broke me. She broke me. The man attempted to throw a punch but was stopped quickly when I caught it in my hand and twisted his arm.

"You wanna try that again?" I asked. The man winded as I tightened my grip.

"No! I'm sorry!"

"Don't apologize to me, apologize to Perci," I stated lowly.

"I-I'm sorry!" I let him go as Dick took him. Dick is usually the one to take them to the police department.

"Are you okay?" I asked Perci. She had began to wipe her face, making it red as she tried to get off the tears. "Hold on." I easily wiped her tears with my gloved thumbs. "Better?" She nodded. "Button up your shirt. And straighten your skirt." I watched around us as she did as told.

"Thank you," her voice was raspy and quiet as she spoke.

"It's okay, it's my job," I said reassuringly. She combed her fingers through her blonde hair. Her green eyes red from the crying.

"Um, how did you know my name?" Fuck. Shit. Fuck.

Think fast Jason. "Uh, it was a guess?" I said, it was more of a question.

She looked up at me closely. "Hold on." She walked around me slowly as if she was judging me. "You are very familiar..." she rested her hand on my shoulder and squeezed as she patted my stomach.

"Are you gonna sell me to the butcher or something?" I joked. I heard a chuckled come from her but when I looked at her I knew she knew who is was.

"I know you!" She confessed. I held up my hands in surrender.

"Look, you can't tell anybody! It's this whole thing with security and shit!" I yelled.

"Take it off," she said bluntly.

"Aren't you gonna buy me dinner first?" She rolled her eyes and motioned for me to take off my helmet. I reached up and pressed the button next to my ear and heard it hiss as it opened. I pulled it off slowly to make it more suspenseful.

"Holy fuck," she muttered. I don't think she knew I heard her cause her face went beat red. I gotta admit, she was cute when she was embarrassed.

"What? Is there something wrong or...?" She shook her head.

"No, it's just, woah. How is your hair still looking good after you wear a helmet all night?" She asked. I laughed at her amazement.

"Okay whatever. You should probably go home before you get into trouble with your parents. I don't need you getting grounded on my conscience," I said. She giggled and picked up her backpack off the ground and began to walk away.

I hate to have her leave, but damn I love to watch her go.

~~~
That girl owns me. She has me wrapped around her finger and she doesn't even know it. She could ask me to shoot myself and I'd do it. God she's beautiful.
"Dude, you gonna stop staring or am I gonna have to cut your eyes out?" Roy broke my train of thought.
"Shut up," I mumbled. My head rested on my hand as I leaned on my elbow just watching how Perci laughed and smiled.
"You're starting to get creepy and we need to have this project done otherwise we don't play next game," he stressed.
"So?" I answered, not paying my full attention.
"That means your girl won't see you play." I turned around and flipped through my notebook. "I knew that'd get you to work." Roy smiled as he showed me his ideas for the presentation. "So, she knows?"
I nodded. "Yeah, she recognized me even though I had my helmet and everything else on. She's smart," I admitted.
"Anyone compared to you is smart," he joked. I flipped him off.
"Now that's not a nice thing to do to your friends," Perci said. I quickly put my hand down. Maybe Dick is right. "Anyways, you are the only other person that I'm kind of willing to talk to so...my partner isn't here and she probably won't be for the rest of the year so I need a new partner or partners. So can I join?"
How could I say no to that?
