"Maybe if you paid more attention to that test of yours instead of what the people are-""Look, I get it, mom," she laughed. She laughed happily, as if nothing was wrong. "It's just that it's so hard to concentrate with all of those meat heads around me throwing paper balls at each other." Me. At me. She meant.
"Oh, I see... your placing the blame on those football players you like so much," her mom, Abigail, teased. Perci chuckled to herself.
"Just because I think they're good players, doesn't mean that I like them." Perci merged into the left lane towards the intersection at the stop light. Football players that threaten to beat the shit out of me every day? Perci thought.
"That's true honey, but maybe you shou-"
"Mom!" Perci shouted as an eighteen wheeler slammed into the front right side, forcing the air bags to blow up and out of their secure cases in the dashboard. Everything was loud and quiet all at the same time. Perci screamed for her mom but no response. She screamed for help but couldn't hear the drivers of witnessing cars yelling for her to calm down. She screamed for her mom again and again, but nothing ever responded. "Mom!" She sobbed. She cried. She screamed at the top of her now burning lungs.

"Mom..." Perci looked to her right to see her mother. Her mother with her head leaning over the side of the passenger seat, blood leaking out of her nose and her forehead with a busted lip and two forming black eyes. "Mom!" Perci couldn't contain what she felt, nor could she explain the feeling she had in that moment. She saw her own mother laying lifeless in the car next to her. "Get her out! Please! Please!" Perci sobbed.
"Get out the mother! We need to sedate this one!" Perci fought against the restraining medics.

"Mom? Where's my mom?" Perci slowly looked around the white room. IV's sticking out of her arms, a tube in her nose, and white and blue sheets encasing her onto the uncomfortable hospital bed. "Where's my mom?" She shouted.
"Shh, honey, I'm right here," Perci turned to see her mom sitting in the bed across the room from her.
"Oh thank god..."
