Chapter Twelve:

Nicole's POV:

I let out a frustrated grunt, sliding my hand over the obvious cowlick in my hair in attempt to make it stay flat; of course, this doesn't work. My stomach flips with nerves as my eyes catch the time; letting me know Harry was five minutes away for our date.

"Why can't you just corporate with me, hair?" I snap.

Finally giving up, I brush the hair into a high bun and untuck a few strands around my cheeks. Just as I'm slipping on my converse, a knock comes from the door. Harry stood there wearing a loose white button up with black skinny jeans.

He grins before saying, "good evening."

I chuckle and grab my purse and keys before we walk outside to his car. We share the usual "how are you's" while we get settled in, he starts up the car and begins to drive out of the parking garage.

"So, what sort of date is this that I must wear converse and jeans?" I question.

He hums with a goofy smile on his face. "It's a surprise."

"But surprises can be scary," I jokingly whine with a pout.

He laughs at the and reaches out to hold my hand. "I promise, nothing will happen to you while I'm here"

"You don't look as excited as I had hoped," Harry mumbles as we walk towards a small arcade building.

I laugh nervously, "I'm not good at games, that's all."

"Oh, so it'll be even easier to kick your butt? I was worried for nothing!" He teases, nudging my arm lightly.

We walk in and he pays for a handful of tokens while a glanced around the crowded building. Harry returns, wrapping an arm around my waist and leading me towards the empty pool tables.

"I'm sorry, I just request one game of pool before we begin." He grins excitedly.

I smile back, shaking my head. "No need to apologize, it's a lot quieter over here."

He stares at me for a moment and then starts up the game. He hands me a pool stick and chalks up his hands before offering me to go first, which I decline. I watch him place with solid white ball and strike it, causing the others to scatter around the table.

"Yes! Stripes," he laughs.

~

"So, you're good at pool?" Harry grumbles with a smirk.

I laugh, dusting the chalk from my jeans. "I may have had a pool table growing up."

He nods and holds my hand while leading me around the arcade.

We played Deal or No Deal, Connect Four, and many other games that I ended up being really good at, despite my usual bad luck with games. At the end of it, we had a total of 320 tickets, which he traded in for a stuffed animal penguin.

"Aw, Elli will love it!" I gush.

Harry shakes his head at me and places the penguin in my hands. "I picked this one out for you, silly." I blush, hugging the stuffed animal close to my chest and thank him quietly. "Let's go eat, yeah?" He offers as we head back out to the car.

He takes us to a small taco truck near my building and orders us six chicken tacos to split. We eat, and surprisingly they were really good tacos.

"What do you think?" He asks, covering his mouth with a napkin.

I nod, chewing happily. "They're delicious!"

He smiles and we finish up our dinner shortly after casual chit chat. He takes me for a walk around the park, holding hands and occasionally kissing.

~

"Thank you for tonight, I really enjoyed it." I say as he leads me to my front door.

He laughs, "thank you for kicking my butt in everything, I think I left my manliness back home."

We laugh for a moment and he kisses me goodnight. "I'm really glad I was able to get to know you more today." He says.

"Me too." I smile.
