In Bed With Marty?

I woke up in a bed, my head was pounding. Someone was beside me, I assumed it was Marty so I looked over. What I saw made me cover my mouth before I could scream. It was Marty beside me but not Marty, old Marty. I watched him peacefully sleep, my eyes widened and I lightly touched his hair, it looked darker in the moonlight than it had in the picture at the library.

I inched out of bed and tiptoed down the stairs. I went to the front door and reached for the door handle, but there was none. I fell to the ground and then I heard old Marty open the door to our room. I ran into a closet and watched as he walked down the stairs and grabbed a blue electric guitar. He sighed, sat on a recliner and strummed the guitar slowly and quietly.

Marty got up and went to the kitchen, then came back with ice cream, he turned the TV on and asked for the news, the weather, and channels 34, 66, 103 and 84. A younger female voice called from upstairs and startled me.

"Dad?" She called. "Dad is that you?"

"Yeah Marlene it is." He said from the couch. Marlene walked down the stairs and stood beside him.

"Dad why are you watching TV in the middle of the night? And that's where all the ice cream is going!!" She exclaimed, pointing at the tub Marty held. He sighed.

"Macey's gone partying again, I heard her go down the stairs. Why does she always do that?" I gasped, he thought I went partying, I don't like partying. Marlene sighed and went to stand behind Marty and massage his shoulders.

"I don't know dad." She whispered.

"Go back to sleep darling," Marty said, Marlene nodded and went up the stairs. His words rang in my head Macey's gone partying again. Was I not happy with Marty? How could I not be happy?
