Chapter 10

We say goodbye in the pouring rain

"We're lost", you whispered. "Damn. I hate paper chases!"

Break - who was some metres in front of you - jumped around like a young deer. Careless, or at least he pretended to be. "Oh, this is fun to me~"

"What are you talking about?! We're walking since...let me think... two or three hours and everything here looks alike! We went astray and around us are just trees! Thousands of trees! Look into the sky, it's going to rain soon!"

"And in some hours, the sun will go down~", he added.

"Why are you so coolly? Ah! I know, this team wasn't an accident, right? This was Sharon's and your plan! You wanted to make me angry! Do you really want me to go insane?"

"That's not true, it wasn't my plan. But it comes in handy. Now you can't run away. Just you, me and these trees..."

He turned around and you made a step backwards. Break smiled. "Are you scared?"

"No, just careful and I don't want to talk about what happened yesterday... Let's forget about this..."

In this moment, you felt something wet on your nose. A drip.

"See? The sky starts to cry. I bet, that's because of you."

"Because of me?"

"Yeah, 'cause you're so cold."

"Shut up, you're annoying me, Xerx!"

The rain became harder and some seconds later, it was pouring. You could see the flashes and hear the thunder.

"Oh no, this a thunderstorm!", you screamed.

"Heaven has to be very angry."

"This is not funny, we're in the woods. That's dangerous, you know?"

"Let's find a shelter under the tree over there" Break pointed at the beech tree behind you.

"No! What if a flash bangs in it!"

"Then I'm here to save you. And also; do you want to catch a cold?"

A chuckle escaped from your lips. "You are soooo arrogant" Then you went under the tree. Break followed you and stopped next to you.

"Here..." He took his strange, white coat off and pulled it around you. "It seemed like you were freezing"

"Thank you..."

With his fingers, he grabbed the sleeves of the coat and dragged you closer to him.

"I'm freezing too, ya' know?"

"Then why did you give me the coat?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "Beause I want you close to me, as close as possible."

You didn't give him a response.

Even if you stood under a tree, you still got soaked to the skin. Your face was covered with hundreds of drips and Break's wet hair sticked on his forehead, which made him look even more handsome and somehow... cute. You closed your eyes and listened to crackling rain.

When you opened them again, the rain had stopped. You noticed a shape closing in from behind some trees.

"Here you two are! We searched everywhere in this forest for you!", said a well-known voice.

"I want to go home...", you whispered.

On the way home, Break laid one arm around you, 'cause you were shivering, even in the carriage.

"Seems like your friends again", Sharon observed, while you and Break were still "cuddling".

You were shocked, when you saw the foreign carriage in front of the Rainsworth manor. You never saw it, but you knew the signs on it. Pandora was here. And that was bad, very bad.

"What could they want here?", Break whispered, his arms still around you.

Everybody went inside the manor. In the saloon, sat men and of course they wore the uniforms of Pandora.

"Hello!", said one man. He was tall and gaunt and his blue eyes shined like saphires. "We are searching for Miss ________, is she here?"

"That's me...", you replied with a lump in your throat.

"That's good, we want to ask you something... There is this photo... " He pulled a photo out of his jacket and gave it to you. You looked at it and what you saw made your hearts skip a beat. It showed you, some month ago, when the clock hand moved.

You made a step backwards. They knew it. They knew everything! What would they do now? Would they kill you?

You stumbled and butted at something. A hand removed the photo from your hand. You turned around and looked into Break's crimson eye. He examined the picture. There was a little impulse in his face, the most people wouldn't have noticed it, but you saw it.

"So? Can you explain to us, what we can see there?"

You kept silent.

The man laughed. "Or should I better say: Is this you in the picture?"

You didn't want to lie, so you answered with a "Yes."

"Good, next question: Are you an illegal contractor?"

"Yes..."

"Do you know what this means?"

"Em... Yes... No... I think so... You're going to kill me, right?"

"No... But before I tell you what will happen to you, I have a last question."

"Ok..."

"Is there anyone in Pandora or one of your friends, who knows about this?"

Break opened his mouth to say something. No! You didn't want to involve him into this!

"No... There is nobody", you said fast.

"Fine. Herewith you - Lady ________ - are banished. If you ever come back to the territory of Pandora, we have to kill you. You have fourty eight hours to leave this town or rather this land." With these words the men went outside.

Your legs felt numb; you broke down.

"No...", you whispered. "Noooooo!"
