This story is about a ghost that seemed to be haunting our farmhouse when a neighbor of ours was working there. My husband has a home-based business and he needed some part-time help. He hired a neighbor boy of ours who needed some work. From the time this person started working at our house, things seemed to start happening. This person was scared to work in the shop alone. Several times he would tell me he felt like he was being watched and was uncomfortable working without my husband there with him. It was during this time that I woke up one morning and all of a sudden I felt like a presence was watching me. It was scary so I closed my eyes and then it felt even stronger. So I wouldn't open my eyes because I was so afraid of what I would see. Eventually, I fell back to sleep, but it was very unsettling.
Another time, I was in my daughter's bedroom reading her a story. There was a door between her room and our dining room which I had closed. My husband was watching television in our living room, which is also next to my daughter's bedroom. Sometimes we would talk because the rooms were right next to each other. This particular night I mentioned our neighbor, and we were discussing his hours and what time he was to arrive the next day for work. Almost as soon as I mentioned our neighbor's name, there was a huge boom. It was on the door adjoining my daughter's room and our dining room. It was so hard that you could feel the door shake - almost like someone threw a huge rock at the door. My husband was scared and we didn't know what it was. We went to our dining room, but nothing was out of place. Our cat was even asleep in one of the dining room chairs like nothing had happened. It was so weird!
Another time, our neighbor stopped in and was talking to my husband out in our yard. I walked out to join them and I could see our living room lamp, which was on through one of the windows. All of a sudden I saw the lamp flicker off and back on. I can't help but think that our ghost wasn't angry with anyone in the family. In fact, I think it may have been trying to protect us. Later on, this neighbor tried to start some trouble between my husband and me. We found out he wasn't such a nice person. We still have things happen in our house but they aren't as pronounced. Things are much calmer now, almost like our ghost is happy that our neighbor doesn't come around anymore. It must have disliked him greatly and wanted to warn us.
