RIGHT NOW, Angela didn't know what to think. He heart was beating rapidly, her breathing was coming in quick succession, and her armpits were sweaty. Great. It wasn't like this was new. She had been here before, many times before. Standing with the same boy, meeting his family. This was all similar, but new at the same time.
Dylan's family had been bugging him with coming home towards the holidays, but what they didn't realize was that he was bringing along his old ex-girlfriend/best friend who is now his new girlfriend/best friend. He had to repeat it a couple times to understand it himself. He didn't actually believe that she was still behind him, and if it weren't for her hand griping the material of his shirt so hard, he might have believed she'd ran away. His fist reached up, knocking on the wood door three times before waiting. He sighed, tucking his hands into his pockets as he turned quickly, hearing the sound of the door unlocking, and shot Ang a quick smile over his shoulder. Her fist tightened, and she returned the gesture; her heart seeming to rip through her rib cage as the door opens. It's light and fun on the inside, soft banter fills the walls, and it smells like gingerbread cookies.
The frame is filled by Dylan's mothers body, a smile so wide that it seemed to never end. "Dylan!" She reaches forward, yanking him to her. Angela's fist releases his shirt, and she watches with a smile as the mother and son embrace. She also watches as his mothers opens her eyes, and stares directly into hers.
Her lips purse, and she grips her boys shoulders, giving a harsh tug.
"Geez ma, nice to see you to-"
His sentence is cut in half with a wave of her hand, and she steps around him, facing the blonde woman. Her eyes seem watery, and a smile almost as wide as before makes its way across her features. Angela's heart melts at the sight, and she can't help but feel right at home, like she'd never left.
"Is that my Ang?!" Her arms wrap around her body quickly and tightly, and Ang is filled with a sweet sense of warmth. She feels whole again, and as she tries not to cry, she looks towards Dylan who's watching with a smile. His eyes are crinkled in the corners, and he gives her a bashful wink.
"I found him crying over a picture of you, and told him to get back with you or I'd have to disown him." Her words brush against the blondes ears, and they pull apart, laughing and wiping some stray tears away. "I'll be honest with you, I didn't know if he had the balls to do it." Dylan makes a whine of disapproval, wrapping an arm around his mothers shoulders, a blush creeping up his neck.
"Now if you ever pull a stunt like that again, I'll actually disown you." She tugs at her sons ear playfully, but her face is stone cold serious.
"Trust me mom, I'm not letting her go ever again."
