"Fucking hell Granger, you're getting good!" Blaise cheered, watching Hermione cast various knockback spells at a tree. The leaves fell hastily at each cast.
Daphne let out a high pitched wolf whistle at Hermione, "She looks incredible doing it, not gonna lie." Hermione only shot Daphne a glare and rolled her eyes, trying not to laugh at the girl's odd compliments.
"Oh be quiet you two," Hermione waved her hand down, resuming to her practice. Draco had stayed back at his apartment, not caring to join them this time. A week had passed since she began her training, and she was rapidly improving. Not that she was back to her old self by any means, but she was undoubtedly becoming capable of protecting herself.
Blaise and Daphne had practically lived at Draco's apartment throughout the week - much to Draco's dislike. During one of their visits, Daphne had taught Hermione how to brew a healing potion that was capable of healing minor internal injuries. The stove accidentally set on fire during the making, receiving silent treatment from Draco for a few hours. While she was getting better at her magic, Draco mostly sat in his room and studied various maps. He was quieter than usual after what had happened that night with him and Hermione on the bed.
Hermione thought back on the memory of his hands running along her waist, and how dangerously delectable it had felt, but despised herself for ever thinking of it as a good thing. Draco was similar; he couldn't believe he had let his testosterone get the better of him. It was no excuse, but Draco partially blamed it on the fact that Draco hadn't had a woman in his bed for months on end and she just so happened to, well, be a woman in his bed. Nevertheless, he didn't speak much with Hermione after. The lack of communication between the two didn't go unnoticed by Blaise and Daphne. One morning when Hermione had a question on a particular spell, Draco had merely shrugged and told her to ask one of the others. Blaise looked so utterly confused as Draco's uncaring attitude towards Hermione's inquiries but chose not to pry too much.
"I say we should all celebrate tonight," Daphne pondered, thinking out loud, "As a nice way to say goodbye."
Hermione raised her eyebrows, tucking her wand away and leaning against a tree. Blaise sat beside her and offered her a drink from his water bottle which she gladly accepted. "Goodbye?" Hermione quizzed.
"Well, yeah, you are going back tomorrow still aren't you?" Blaise interjected and then proceeding to take a large sip of water.
Her heart fell a little as she remembered that Draco had told them the other night that she would be leaving so soon. The days had gone by too quickly. "Oh. I forgot," Hermione sighed, frowning, "I can't thank you guys enough for helping me get back on my feet, by the way."
Daphne beamed a broad smile. She was a beautiful girl, Hermione had realised as she got to know her more. The sour look on her face that she portrayed at Hogwarts had been diminished entirely and replaced by a glowing blonde woman. "Not a problem. But, you do know, you are welcome to stay for as long as you like." Daphne continued, "If Draco doesn't want you to stay with him, you always have a room at my place."
"Gosh, Daphne, you truly are a knight in shining fucking armour now aren't you?" Blaise teased, receiving a daggering stare from the blonde Slytherin girl. He continued, turning to Hermione, "And just so you know, you always have room in my bed if you don't want to go."
Hermione snorted, "Be quiet." she had come to grow fond of Blaise and Daphne's rather weird and racy sense of humour. Draco never seemed to share quite as much of it when she was around, although, from the information spilled by his best friends, he was quite the troublemaker not long ago. Hermione played with the grass beneath her and frowned again, "I have to go back. I don't want to burden you guys. And, I mean, I have to see my friends again. It's been way too long."
