Chapter Nineteen

"Hey honey can you please look over this contract for me." My dad requests, handing me a blue file which normally means super important in the company.

"Sure dad, what is it for?" I ask taking the file from his hands.

I actually love working with my dad. I mean at the beginning he was a little impatient with me, but I guess he realised that I was still a kid.

When I first started working with my dad some of the people working here thought I was just a spoilt brat. They all thought I'd just inherit the company and marry some smart rich guy and he'll run the company but I actually do want to run this company one day.

"It's this investment deal with the De Beer Brothers from Vancouver. They seemed a little too eager to sigh the contract. But I told them to give me a day to read over it which they reluctantly agreed to. They just seem shady as you kids call it these days." my dad says and ends his sentence with a dab.

Unlike other kids who'd be embarrassed by their parents trying to be cool, I actually find it pretty entertaining.

"Okay Oldman, I'll go check this out and I'll get back to you." I say and walk out his office to my own.

"fuck, your dad hasn't told you."

I walk into my dad's office after and an hour of reading over the contract and changing some of the shady terms to suit our company more than theirs.

Lee's words just keep repeating in my head and now that I'm in dads office I can finally ask him.

"Hey dad you remember Jasper?" I ask him while placing the newly revised files on his table.

"yeah, he's a nice boy that one, are you thinking of settling down with him?" he asks looking up from his laptop.

"no, dad I'm too young for that. He actually introduced me to his friends aat night and guess who was at the dinner." I ask him a little annoyed by the whole settling down thing.

"oh l, I'm sure you had fun hanging out with people your age, considering how you don't have friends." My dad says mocking my lack of acquaintances.

"I asked you to guess who I met last night, not for you to mock me." I say.

"who did you meet sweetheart?" dad asks after chuckling at my annoyance.

"I saw Lee, dad, and he told me something that got me thinking." I say looking at him.

My dad just looks at me with his business poker face that uses with clients.

"what lies did he feed you?" my dad asks through gritted teeth.

"No dad it's what he didn't say that I'm worried about." I say folding my arms at how defensive my dad sounds.

If my dad is hiding something from me, it's going to take us back to when I found out about my mother and we've worked too hard to build the trust to go back to that.

"What are you talking about." my dad asks standing up and going around his table so we are facing each other.

"He expressed to me that you have been withholding some information from me and don't lie, please dad." I ask him folding my arms as well challenging him to treat me like a client.

"Dad I'm serious if this could've in anyway changed how our relationship ended I deserve to know dad." I say stepping even closer to my dad.

"I made him cheat on you. I had cameras in the apartment to make sure he did. Lee wouldn't even touch her. We told her to take of her top and throw it on the floor. I knew you were planning the movie night for a long time and we were planning the end of your relationship for a long time." My dad says but looking down at his feet not eveneeting my eyes.

" who is 'we'." I ask him using my cold stern voice.

At this point I don't even know how to feel.

"It was Lee's dad and I but we did it for you guys. You needed to focus more on your life and taking over the company one day. And Lee needed to focus more on taking over his dad's company." He explains and tries to grab my shoulders but I flinch which causes him to step back.

"Don't you dare say you did this for us, you are so selfish" I say in a loud shout. Luckily my dad's office is sound proof so no one in the office can hear us.

"Honey, you weren't getting anywhere with this modeling thing. And I knew the intensity of your love for Lee. You could've dropped all your dreams for the boy." my dad shouts at me as well.

"That's the thing dad Lee would never make me choose between him and my dreams." I say in a whisper walking to the door of his office.

"And Mr Grey I revised the contract from the de Beer Brothers and even altered the terms to suit the companies best interest. I'll be handing in my resignation papers at the end of today's business day." I slam the door and make my way to my office to pack the rest of my stuff.

" Hey babe can you send me Dave and Lee's phone numbers so I can organize our lunch date."

" sure I'll send then now. It's good to see that you hit it off with my friends. I'm happy to know that the most important people in my life get along" Jasper says and pulls me closer to him so we can cuddle.

We're actually watching the movie 'call me by your name'. It's a really beautiful movie.

This actually reminds me of my first date with Lee. When we were supposed to watch movies but ended up at his apartment watching tv and eating noodles.

I quickly make a mental not to talk to Lee very soon about everything that happened.

"yeah Dave is really cool and I guess Lee got some time to grow up. By the way I resigned from work today." I say as if it's a random fact.

"wait why. It doesn't matter does that mean you've taken my advise. Will you move in with me. I mean your apartment is nice but mine is bigger and I can support the both of us I don't mind." Jasper says rambling on and on about his ideas of the man being the provider.

"I'd like it if we didn't talk about your ideologies okay. I don't like being a secretary anymore okay. That's why I resigned." I tell him bit annoyed.

That's what I tell guys, that in a secretary because it's less threatening. And it also explains why I live in a studio apartment. And I don't drive any of my car unless I'm out of town. I've become custom to ubers and taxis or my other car, a black Audi A3.

I normally say that my parents helped me pay for it, but actually I paid for it.

"okay I'm sorry. But I'm here for you when you need me okay." Jasper says and he leans in to kiss me.

It's a soft light kiss but it holds a little bit of dominance form his side.

"I love you" I hear him say before I fall asleep in his arms and the warmth of the light throw blanket.
