~Esmé's P.O.V~

I was walking out of my room and walked out the front door. I waited by the car door, the outside was very warm. My father finally walked out the front door, I felt the cool AC from the house scurry to the warmth. It felt... nice.

"You ready to go?" He asked opening the door of the van. I went in on the opposite side of him. We drove in silence, letting the music play in the background. It was muffled, I was too busy thinking about all of my friends. We call each other 'The East Siders'. We've all been friends for so long.

It didn't even feel like it took long. Before knew it, we were at school. I waited outside from the school, my face was turning red from the warmth. I regretted wearing long pants to school, knowing our homeroom gets extremely hot. I watched the buses pull in. Once the bells rang, the Maple Bluff came. They were always late. Most of my friends took that bus, so I watched them pile out, one after the other.

A guy, more on the taller side came running out doing his signature run. It was a very awkward run, that was obvious he was purposely running like that. He wouldn't admit it, though. Violin in hand, he ran over to the spot where I was. He let out a little scream as he saw me, not in fear but of excitement. One after the other, more people came over. Soon enough, all 12 of us have reunited. I walk over to my two best friends, their names Aileen and Lily.

"Lily!" I yelled, the yell was more on the quieter side though. Me and Aileen were linking arms. We are "twins", as we like to call ourselves that.

Lily looked me in the eyes. Her face was straight, no hint of a smile coming. Her face was dusted of a light pink, she was always blushing. I looked at her concerned, she looked like she has something important to say. I mouthed the word "What" to her, after a moment of silence, she lifted her hand up. All of us learned sign language over the summer, so we can speak to each other without anyone really knowing what we're saying. After a pause, she started to sign.

"W h o r e." I laughed at her action, as it was so random. That was our thing, to call each other whores, we don't remember how it started but it just did one day, and it never went away.

We all started to walk into the school. The old musty smell was pretty strong. I scrunched up my face at the strong oder. I get a few stares from people, but I'm use to that by now. After all, I was making a weird face. A few sixth graders look confused. I laugh a little at them.

I unlink arms from Aileen, she had to leave to get to her class. We were told to go to the Forum, which was right by the library. I've never really been in there before, so I followed Cooper, thinking he knew his way around more than I did.

Once we got into the Forum, I looked around to see everyone that was in our classroom. A few people I didn't like, but over all it was a good class. After we situated ourselves, we all started to compare classes. Lily was in my class. So were some more of my friends. To name them there were: Cooper, Cole, Zephyr and Sophia. Sophia wasn't an East sider though, she was too new to become one, and not all of the group liked her.

I would catch Lily looking at me, but she would only wave at me.

~Lily's P.O.V~

I noticed that I'm staring at Esmé a lot, but it's okay, we're just friends! Right? Right. Whenever she would catch me staring, I would just smile and wave, and hope she doesn't get confused. In response, she puts her first two fringes to her temple and then points them towards me, making a tsk noise. It would make me mad, so I would end up raising both my hands to my temples, making an aggravated face. It would make her laugh, her laugh made me feel better. The best kind of medicine.

I laid my head on Esmé's shoulder, her hand was wrapped around my waist. I looked over to her, attempting to kiss her cheek(quick a/n, Lily does that a lot, she likes to kiss us? idfk why) but she turned to look at me while I was doing so. Making me ~almost~ kiss her lips. That made my cheeks go red, a bright crimson red. She just laughed and told the story to Sophia. I hid my face in my sweater while they did that.

Well, that's all folks. Hope you liked it, I was in a rush, I had to publish this the day I wrote it, Lily and Esmé kept telling me to. Anyway, the word count is: 867 words.
