(A/n sorry for the long wait, ngl I was procrastinating doing this)

~Time skip brought to you by Brendon Urie's forehead~

~Lilys P.O.V~

I dragged my feet across the newly waxed floor. I laughed to myself a little, thinking about a conversation I once had about wax. I walk to my locker and opened it, getting out my binder Chromebook and pencil case, well it's more of a marker case. Once I got everything, I walked into class. I saw that most of my friends were already there and flashed them a smile.

"Hey guys!" I said in a cheery voice.

Once we all got settled, our teacher started talking. They were talking about something along the lines of a war? I wasn't really listening, my dumb friend Sophia kept annoying me. I hate to admit it, she did make me laugh. Just a little.

~Little baby time skip brought to you by the crack on the third tile of our homeroom~

After our teacher Ms. H. finished speaking, she passed out two sheets of paper for everyone to work on. She told us we could work in pairs or pairs of three. Of course, I asked Esmé.

"Hey, Esmé, wanna work together?" I asked her, giving her a weak smile.

"Sorry, I already got a partner," she pointed over to our friends, Cole and Cooper. They seemed to be talking about something.

I didn't have anyone else to ask, except for Sophia. I look over to her, watching her trying to balance a pencil on her nose. She lasted about 11 seconds before it came crashing down to her desk.

"Dammit," she grumbled to herself. She looked around.

~Sophia's P.O.V oooooo~

I noticed that Lily was looking at me. It was obvious she wanted to be my partner. I mean, who wouldn't? I'm great hahahahaahahahahHAHAHAHAHAH.

I pretended to look around for someone, avoiding contact with Lily. After a few moments, I look at her and give her a big smile.

"Wanna be partners Lily?" I asked.

She gave a heavy sigh through her nose and puffed out her checks. She gave one last glance to Esmé before nodding her head.

~Esmé's P.O.V~

Bitch.

~Lily's P.O.V~

I tell Sophia to go and get the textbooks from the counter by the door. As she walks over, I decide to try to talk to Esmé.

"H-hey Esmé," I stutter. I mentally curse an unholy word to myself from that dumb comment. I feel my checks get warm, I rub my nose trying to not let her notice my blush.

"Hey," she spoke, not even glancing over at me. I sigh, not too loud. I don't want her to hear.

After about 5 seconds, Sophia gets here with two textbooks in hand. She gives a lazy grin while plopping them down on the hard desk. It made a loud bang when she dropped it. People stopped talking and shot their eyes over at us. I could feel their eyes on the back of my head, burning a hole.

"Heh, sorry!" Sophia spits out. After she says that, everyone goes back to their chatter about whatever.

I grab one of the textbooks and start reading from page 94. I didn't actually know what page to go to, I just flipped to a random one and started reading to look like I knew what I was doing. I did remember Ms. H. saying something about a number, but that was just a distant memory in the back of my head, itching it's way for me to remember.

"Um, Lily, we're supposed to be on page 104," Sophia said, giving me a confused stare. Hey, at least I got the 4 right. Right? Right.

"O-oh hah I knew that," I say. I look up to Sophia rolling her eyes, far enough she could see her small brain.

I start to read the page. Every so often, my eyes would dart over to Esmé, watching her giggle about something Cooper would say. I felt my face scrunch up at the thought. I start to wish it was me that was her partner, ME making her laugh. I guess I have to wait another time. I once again let out another sigh.

My thoughts go blurry, I can't even remember what I was thinking about. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a shadow, walking in awkward strides to the door. I tear my eyes away from the book and look at the door. Our teacher scurry's over to the door, her arms bouncing up and down as she ran. I tilt my head, wondering why she would run, it was only two feet from where she was sitting. The thoughts shake out of my head as she opens the door. The now shapeless figure morphed into a man, looking to be around his 30's. His complexion was more on a darker hue, making him look Mexican. I watch as he leans against the door frame.

"Is there an Ian in here?" He asks. His voice had a thick accent.

Hearing his name, Ian jumps from his seat and stares at the man. They nod heads to each other showing they heard. Ian walks out.

~Another mini time skip brought to you by the hole in the ceiling~

Ian walks in, the man saying a faint 'goodbye' to him. He gives a bright smile and waves as the older man walks out of the classroom. Before Ian could even sit down, someone yells: "Ian, was that your dad?" It got silent. I look over and see Sophia cringe from the person saying that. Ian stared at the person for a long time before slamming his hands on the table, showing he thought of what he was going to say.

"STOP!" Everyone jumps at the sudden act on his part. "My DAD is at the GROCERY STORE!" He says through gritted teeth. Sophia gives him an apologetic look before bursting into laughs. One after the other, all of us start laughing.

Cole wipes away a fake tear and repeats the same words that Ian had just said. We start laughing again, it seemed even funnier this time.

I quickly grab out my notebook and start jotting down what Ian had just said and carefully put it into the "Quotes" section of the book. I quickly skim through the quotes, noticing a lot of them had to do with Sophia. I sigh for the hundredth time. I smile once I see one of Esmé and a bright crimson goes over my face. Am I staring to like her? No, I can't, she's just my friend!

Right?

Right.
