Here I am. Sitting in the passenger seat of my adoptive fathers car; with a cat in my lap, feeling really tried. I had to go in there. I had to move; I had to follow my friends into the huge house we were parked in front of.

I couldn't, for some reason, bring myself to open the door and move. Was it because I felt like taking a 20 year nap, or was it fear of what these monsters would think of me. "Meow.." I glance down at the cat laying in my lap and smile faintly. "I know Cozzy.." I look back up at the house. Asgore has already entered, but Undyne and Alphys were standing on the porch chatting with each other. Probably waiting for me.

A soft paw is placed on my face and when I look down at Cozzy he is facing me with dull golden eyes. For a moment they flash green and then they are back to normal. He wanted to communicate but there wasn't much he could say without words. I could feel it though. His kind encouragement. His belief in my ability to get through this. We could get through this together.

He climbs up on my shoulder and curls up around my neck like a scarf. Then he presses his cold nose to my neck and begins to purr softly. Strangely, it was exactly the encouragement I needed to climb out of the car and cautiously walk over to the front door.

"We were wondering if you were coming." Alphys greets as I come close. Undyne meets my nervous gaze with an equally anxious one. She gives me a small smile.

"G-glad you chose t-to j-join us." She encourages sweetly. I reach up and pet Cozzys cheeks affectionally.

"He convinced me." I smile back at the pair, "and if anyone asks, he is a support animal, that way it won't be too weird when they see me with him all the time." They both nod, then Alphys opens the door and holds it open for us. Undyne giggles like a love struck teen, then grabs my wrist and tugs me into the house.

The front door leads into a large living room with a purple couch and a pair of black chairs. On the couch there is an orange blanket carelessly spread across it. It seemed out of place with how neat everything else looked. All the paintings on the walls were at equal height as well as straight, and the other blankets on the black chairs were folded neatly.

"There she is!" Asgores' excited voice reaches my ears as he exits the kitchen, I'm guessing, from a door to the right. Another, kind but intimidating goat monster follows him. As they come closer my nerves reach brand new heights, and Cozzy clearly feeds off my anxiety as his tail starts to whip around. He nuzzles closer to my neck and his purring becomes a bit shaky.

"H-hello, I am-" I start when they stop in front of us.

"(Y/n). I have heard quite a bit about you." Her voice is soft but as she looks, it has a hard edge to it. I flinch and turn my head away.

"And you are T-Toriel. I have heard a lot about you." I curse myself for stuttering but to my surprise the thick air immediately softens, and when I turn back to the pair of monsters I find that Asgore had put a hand on Toriels shoulder.

"I know Toriel comes off as intimidating, but it's only because she ruled the whole underground. That takes a powerful woman." Asgore explains.

"Yes, I'm sorry if I scared you. I'm not used to speaking with humans.. such soft creatures." I'm almost offended, before I remember that she was right. Humans were very soft. I was only acting as a human, so her "insult" didn't apply to me.
