In our first week, I'll discuss about Google's Play Protect, Android's built-in antivirus feature on your Android phone. Before you proceed, watch the YouTube video by Google to better understand this.
What are types of dangers on Android?
-Trojan
-Rooting/Jailbreaking
-Spam
-Fraud
-Backdoor
-Ransomware
-Remoting Malware
-Commercial Malware
-...and more I can't list here.Is Play Protect built-in on Google Play services?
Yes, but only on version 11 and above. So, you need to update that app in order to be protected by Play Protect. It's better to update Google Play services directly on Play Store for your own safety
Is Play Protect enabled by default?
Yes, Play Protect is enabled by default, and active around the clock. For additional safety, don't disable Scan device for security risks because once you disable that, you're holed up your device's shields and possibly infect yours by these dangers.
Can I use other antivirus apps besides Play Protect?
Yes, you can use other antivirus apps besides Play Protect to add extra security when dangers bypassed Play Protect. But, as what I said earlier, don't disable Scan device for security risks because it'll pose your device to more problems.
I want to send unknown apps automatically to Google for better detection. How to enable that?
1. Depending on your phone, you may:
a. Open Settings > Google on some devices.
b. Launch the Google Settings app on mostly devices.
2. Scroll down and tap Security
3. Tap Play Protect.
4. Tick Improve harmful app detection. Make sure you read and agree Google's Privacy Policy and Terms before you go.Why Dr. Safety recommends to turn off Unknown sources?
For your safety, turn off that option because dangers are from unknown sources such as an phishing site, hacked site and sharing apps.
I shared some apps installed from Play Store on SHAREit, is it safe?
Yes, Play Protect will still scans your apps and downloaded app package files for your safety.
I found a unsound and unsafe app from Play Store. Can I report it to Google?
Before you report, try to contact the developer first. If there's no response, proceed to reporting.
1. Connect to the Internet, open Play Store and search a app to report. Choose a app from the search results
2. Tap ... > Flag as inappropriate in app info page.
3. Choose a reason/objection that nearest to the problem of a app. For your case, pick Other objection.
5. Tap Submit. For your case, Other objection, fill up the field and tap OK.
6. Wait for the response in your inbox.
