You see me, I see you. Those words had a very clear message.
I gagged and bent over. I could barely keep my stomach from pushing out it's content. I turned around and walked to the table to find some support. Jungkook followed me with big steps and put a hand on my back. With the other hand he grabbed my arm to support me. He was sturdier than the table. Jimin ran past us to check upstairs.
"I will find him, I swear. He'll pay for this." I heard the anger rumble in his chest with every word. I clamped onto his arms and looked up with teary eyes.
"I'm okay." I said breathless.
"Sure you are." Jimin said sarcastically. He had come back down and nodded to Jungkook, to confirm everything was clear. I shook my head.
"I'm really okay. I am angry. No, furious, but I'm okay. I trust you guys, I trust your ability to keep me safe. I was foolish to want to go outside, I should have listened."
"We will protect you, no matter what. This is just a sick game to him, don't let him get to you." Jimin sounded just as angry as Jungkook, whom had cooled a little and was now deep in thought, probably thinking up a better way to protect me.
"I'll have to call some people. You will not leave my side." He ordered me, I nodded and I followed him to their room with the computers. He made a lot of phone calls, the one even louder than the other. Some were very short, some took ages. I stopped listening to what he was saying. I just sat there and watched him. His eyes changed and had lost a lot of the light that was in them before. He looked completely focused and I guess he forgot I was in the room. The muscles in his arms and shoulders were tense this whole time. The way he worked looked very random, but I was sure he had his own order of getting things done. He called around, worked the computer for about half an hour. He laid down his phone at the end, turned his chair my way and leaned back. Most tension had left his body, but I could see he was still prepared for anything. He looked at me with curious eyes and smirked.
"Are you wearing my sweater?"
I felt my cheeks burn up as I saw his eyes move over my body.
"It's okay, you can wear it." His smile did not leave his face when he leaned forward. "It looks good on you." He leaned back into his chair again and exactly at that moment Jimin walked into the room and I was not able to come up with a snarky reply.
"The car will be here in a few minutes, we should pack up everything we need before we leave. I am not sure about the location we're going to, so we need to take as many stuff as we can." As if he did not just tease me, Jungkook went back to business and talked to Jimin about what to do. I was confused.
"The car?"
"We need to move as fast as possible, this place has been compromised and is no longer safe." Jimin replied. He looked me straight in the eye. "It's going to be fine, we guarantee. You just need to leave it all to us." He patted me on the head as a comforting gesture. I smiled, hesitantly.
"We will take care of everything. If you have anything you want to take from your room, get a bag from the closet and take everything with you." Jungkook said. "I advise you to take some clothes from there too, just to be sure. If there are no clothes available where we are going, you will have to live in that sweater." He winked at me with those last words. Jimin didn't even notice.
Everything went fast after that. I took the biggest bag I could find from the closet and put in all the clothes that I was able to put in. I stole two more black sweaters from his side of the closet and zipped up the bag. That should be enough for a while. I had nothing in my room, so to save time I did not go in there. I walked down the stairs when I was finished and Jimin and Jungkook were waiting for me in the kitchen. They were holding bags too.
I made an effort not to look in the living room, but followed them both out of the house without looking back. There was a van waiting for us outside, with the engine still running. Jungkook and I got into the back and Jimin sat next to the driver. There were two more men on the last bench behind us. They were wearing full security gear and looked dangerous. Jungkook greeted them and they greeted him back before we drove away.
The more we drove, the thinner the forest became. We were driving for a while and the further away we got from the house, the safer I felt. Soon we drove away from forest grounds and I saw the ocean in front of me. The last time I saw the ocean, was when I was a little girl and my dad took me there. But thinking of my father made my heart ache.
"Where are we going?" I whispered under my breath to Jungkook.
"To a new safe house. You don't have to worry. We will be there in a few hours."
"Few hours?" I asked shocked. But he just nodded and looked out of the window.
My heart started racing again when I realize what was happening. I was in the car with men I didn't know. Out of the five men in this small space, I only knew two. And even my knowledge about them was very limited. The bitter taste of panic boiled up in my mouth. A familiar taste by now. My breathing became heavier and it was harder to think straight.
I felt Jungkook's hand take mine as he weaved his fingers with mine. He clasped on to my hand quite strongly. While doing this, he never once looked back to me but kept staring out of the window. Somehow it worked. I felt myself getting calmer.
