Chapter 1 - Nice to meet you

"Detectives!" Holt calls out. As he does, the people in the room pay attention "I want you to meet our new student, she graduated just last year and will be joining the NYPD. hopefully this year, please make her feel at home. Her name is Y/N" 

With everyone watching I smile and wave. A short, balding man walks up to me "Hi. Im charles Boyle. How do you like your steak?" His vibe is energetic. "Alright, Charles leave the girl alone. My name is john McClane and-"

A tall woman, with dark curly hair elbows him in the ribs. "Shut up peralta."

"Okay! Detectives. Calm down." Holt raises his hand. "Y/N, this is Det. Charles Boyle, Det. Jake peralta, Det. Amy Santiago, Det. Rosa Diaz, and thats gina." He points to a girl who is sitting at a desk, looking at her phone. "Now, everyone return to your desks while I talk to Y/N"

Everyone sits back down and Holt leads me to his office. I sit down but I can't help but stay distracted. She was sorta punk, badass looking. Hot. hot. HOT! HOT! HOT! "HOT!" I shake out of my daze only to find holt standing with soup spilt on his desk. I stand up and open the door of his office

"Captain Holt spilled soup on his desk can someone get a towel or something?" I shout before returning to him. "Are you ok, sir? do you need anything?" He nods "Im okay, I just need to clean this up."

The door swings open. "Here, captain." The dark haired girl throws a towel at him "You ok Y/N? Did any get on you?" I nod and smile. "Im ok" "Good." she leaves and I turn my attention back towards him but my mind is still on her. 

*That Night*

Im so nervous. tomorrow is when I start being a student there. All of those detectives, teaching me whats right, and whats wrong. I just hope I dont fuck shit up. I get up out of my bead and head to the shower.

I stand and let the water pour down my head as I listen to my music, suddenly, the music stops and my ringtone starts playing. I panic and stumble out of the shower, getting dried as quickly as I possibly can and anwser my phone

"Hello?" Water drips down the back of my neck "Hello?" someone from the other line responds. "Can I help you?" "Uhh, Yeah. You're the new girl, at the precinct, right? Yeah Im your 'mentor' Captain holt gave me your number so that I could inform you. Im detective diaz. Im not good with small talk. Be at the precinct right at 9am. goodnight."

she hung up.

I check the time, its 10pm. why would she call me now? why not earlier? Unless she was nervous, I dont know why she would be. Im not threatening, Im not scary. But I comepletely everyones names. who the hell is she? what the hell does she even look like.

*Next Morning at exactly 9am*

"ah, Y/N. You arrived right on time. How did you know?" I studer. "Anyways, this is your mentor, Det. Rosa Diaz. Please, show her around." "Will do, captain. Come with me, Y/N." I follow Rosa around the precinct, she introduces me to most of the people. 

"And finally, The interrogation room, its self explanatory." The door is closed "Why cant we go in?" I put my hand on the handle, but she grabs my hand and yanks it up in the air, pain jolts through my arm and down my spine, but I don't say anything, I didn't realize how strong she is, and intimidating.

"You cant go in there," She takes a deep breath and then sighs loudly, "Why cant I go in?" "Because my asshole little brother got caught stealing a phone!" She screams and kicks he door open, I stand the....very awkward

"Listen you little punk. I told you to do all your homework and this is what happens! Why the hell would you think that you would steal a phone? Shut up and go back home! Im billing you! Not mom. YOU! Im taking it out of your college savings! go home and do ALL your homework!" 

She grabs the kid by the arm and drags him out to the lobby, I quickly follow behind, Watching as she pushes him into the elevator, presses buttons and then walks away. shoving stuff off of Boyle's desk and onto the floor.

She paces in the hallway before kicking the bathroom to the female bathroom. I stand there looking around, I have no clue what to do so I go to the captains office.

"Holt? Im sorry if im intruding but I dont now what to do, Rosa just barged into the bathroom. She seems very upset and mad. What do I do?" "She just dumped her boyfriend last night and shes going through alot of.....emotions...."

I nod slowly "So what do I do?" "Y/N I suggest that you go and talk with her. Im assigning you you're first mission." I get excited, my first mission. "You have to make diaz, get over her ex. I dont usually do this kind of stuff but shes not getting any work done." I nod and walk away, back into the hallway, and into the female restroom.

"Dammit Marcus. Stop texting me! I don't care anymore! Its you're fault you have feelings" When I see rosa she is on the phone. "Uhm, Rosa- Diaz, I-um.." She turns around, her eyes are red, has she been crying? Shes not the crying type. "Marcus, I gotta go."

Rosa hangs up the phone. "What do you want?" "Uhm, are you ok?" she runs a hand through her hair and sighs. "Im fine." "Are you sure? you're eyes are puffy and you seem really mad." She stands with a pose that makes me feel like a small shrimp.

"Rosa, uhm. I herd you have a motorbike, can you take me on a ride? Please?" what the hell am I doing? I hate motorbikes, but Rosa smiles and nods "Sure, Im hungry anyways." I follow a 'not sad or mad anymore' rosa outside to her bike. she gives me a helmet and shows me where to sit and where to hold on.

"Hold on, Y/N" she smiles, and with a big kick, we start to go. a perfect way to start the day off.

The rest of the day goes fine. Im not allowed to do actual work so I had to talk to Gina for a bit but thats ok. "Hey, newbie. We are going to the bar, you wanna come?" "Really? Hang out with actual police officers? Omg this is literally the best day ever!!" Rosa laughs under her breath and nods me to the elevator. 

She drives me on her motorbike, which I have a liking to now. At the bar, I see Rosa, Jake, Charles, Gina and Amy. "Terry and Holt had to talk to people in HQ so hey cant be here, but without them, we wouldn't have our lovely student, Y/N! Cheers to Y/N!" Jake says loudly. Everyone cheers and I smile. I like this place.
