Episode 1: "This Is Going to Be a Long 39 Days"

As they stand on the tarp, they all eye each other suspiciously, not sure how the season will play out.

Fischer (looking at players on the navy and gold mats): "I think Moonlight has to be Rye. I mean, he has a wolf as his brantsteele. Rye has a wild as his pfp on QU for his normal account. I also think Vegeta is Kyle or Briar because the brantsteele is of someone from Dragonball Z (I think). But they could be tricking us as well. Also, this won't effect me for a while because they're not on my tribe, but I think Little Buggy is Nessa just because the person on their brantsteele is of someone from Australian Survivor and Nessa is from Australia. I could be way off in this, but I haven't talked to anyone yet. So my thoughts could change"

Others are already planning in their heads the strategies that they'll use.

Blackheart: "Anyways... What to say... I don't know why I returned. I left satiated with my RP career, and had zero interest in ever returning. Yet, here I stand/sit/lay. I am half heartedly participating this season. Maybe if I make the merge I'll go for a win, but as of now I'm just goofing off. I don't care who is who. I don't care if people know who I am. I don't care if- Oh look!! A BAG OF CHEETOS!! Aw yeah."

Devin: "so this is the season where I'm going all out! My reputation can't hold me back anymore, and I plan to keep my identity hidden till the end. So if I basically have to become a drag queen"

Dill (about his strategy this season): "I just want to say that, I know that I have built a reputation as a nice, considerate, loyal, empathetic guy. What others think of me has always been a deep concern of mine, and I'm proud of myself for being me. But, with this being a masked season, I've decided to try to let some of my cautious-minded thinking go and be a bit more risky and out-there with my character. If someone is getting on my nerves, this time, I'll let it be known 😈😂Hopefully, I'm able to do what I came here to do, which is to make new friends and strengthen bonds with people that I've met before. Oh, and winning the game would be pretty nice, too."

Kris: "I'm back at it again! Thanks to feeling nostalgic about Battle Royale (since it was taking place at exactly this time last year) as well as wanting to break the all-time record for perfect merge seasons at 7 for 7, I decided that I may as well dust off the old cleats and give it another go around. I love the idea of the masked season because it means that no one knows who I am. I went all of IW without revealing to be Frozone, and had it not been for Kyle's Immunity tear and BP's incredible and charming tactics, I feel like I could've made a deep run. That's why once more I won't be telling anyone who I am. Sure, the only person I've rubbed the wrong way in my career is perhaps Jenelle but I still don't want people knowing I've won before. That's an immediate target on my back and we can't have that!" 

As Noel and Cia give out the buffs and send both tribes to their campsites, both tribes are very good about introducing themselves and getting started socializing: in total, the cast has played fourteen times in mask seasons.

On the Sicriu tribe, a lot of socializing is going on, but the players mostly stay guarded, not wanting to give themselves away.

Hlane introduces himself to the tribe first, but he speaks with his old mannerisms and even likes his own post. Gabbie observes this, and though she hasn't had the best relationship with him in the past, she strikes up conversation with him while they gather leaves for their shelter.

Gabbie (as Rory Gilmore, to Hlane): "Hey! Love your beanie, where did you get it?" 

Hlane (as Parker Coppins, to Gabbie): "Idk can't remember. Pretty cool isn't it? Got to keep my head warm!" 

Gabbie: "Of course, it's below 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) out here! Gotta keep warm during the winter season, especially in Romania!" 

Hlane: "Totally! Don't want to freeze my butt off! Yikes! 😬"
