This was it. It was Friday. The day I moved to Sydney and my whole life would change for the better. All week I had been reminiscing about the amazing memories my mind once held.I got up at 6:30am I was so excited. I had my normal breakfast of Coco Pops and I dressed in something I hoped was casual but not too casual, which was black skinnies and an oversized red sweater. It was a very comfy sweater, as I always used fabric conditioner whenever I washed it. I brushed my teeth and combed my hair, before putting the things I needed for that in my hold-all. I made sure I'd packed everything I needed for the flight. Headphones, Ipod, TFIOS and charger. The librarian let me keep The Fault In Our Stars because there were many copies of it and she saw that I liked it. I was in the middle of thinking about Sydney, and my mum called me.
"Luke? Are you ready to leave?" she called.
"Yeah! I'll be down now!" I called back. I took one last look at my now completely empty bedroom, grabbed my hold-all, and went downstairs.
"Come on, Luke. We'll miss the flight!" my mum said. I nodded and we grabbed our bags and walked out of the house for the very last time. I put the bags and suitcases in the boot while my mum started the car. I slammed the boot and got in the car. Saying goodbye to my childhood home, my mum slowly drove the car away.
(Car ride to the airport)
When we got to the airport, we had a good half hour before the flight's first call, so me and my mum decided to get food to keep our energy up. It was 11:30, and we were both tired because we got up early and we still had to pack things and take them to the removal van. I got a stack of American pancakes with syrup. Out of nowhere, a monotonous voice came onto the loudspeaker: "Flight 372 to Sydney, now boarding. Flight 372 to Sydney, final call."
We both stood up, and walked towards the plane. As cheesy as it is, with every step I took, I felt I was letting go of something unnecessary to me.
The bullying
The pain
The struggle against myself.
Then I slowly said goodbye to Melbourne and got onto the plane. My mum and me had found our seats and we did up our seatbelts. I counted down the seconds until I was completely free from everything.

At that very moment, I suddenly felt the weight of the world being lifted off of my shoulders. Everything was just....gone. Once it was okay to use electronic devices again, I looked at how long it would take to get from Melbourne to Sydney, or vice versa. It said 9 hours and 59 minutes. Wow, I'd be on this plane for a long time. After about an hour, I started to feel really sleepy. I was afraid to fall asleep just in case I missed the whole journey.
"Luke, go to sleep, honey. I'll take some pictures for you " My mum said. I nodded gratefully and muttered a 'thank you' before letting my eyes relax and fall completely shut.
"Luke? Luke, honey. Wake up, we're in Sydney!" My mum said excitedly while shaking me. As soon as she said that, my head shot up.
"We're in Sydney?!" I rambled. "ohmygodohmygodohmygod"
We both ran off the plane and into the warm air. We went into Sydney Airport to collect our bags. Once we got them, my mum's text tone rang out. Then, she read out the text:
Mrs Hemmings,
There is a member of our team waiting for you by your car at the north exit of the airport. He will drive you to your new house to get settled in with your son. Hope the flight went well!Mr Irwin
So we walked to the north exit and there was a tall, dark man supposedly waiting for us. I heard my mum mumble something to him that I strained to hear, and he nodded. He swiftly guided us through the door and towards our car. I dumped my bag on the back seat and buckled up. My mum had told me it's a half hour from the airport, so I grabbed my Ipod since my phone was out of charge. The Amity Affliction's 'Chasing Ghosts' came on, and I can really relate to the lyrics. Before I knew it, we pulled up in front of a moderate sized house with a neat front lawn and nice floral placement. It looked as if the rooms were quite big too. But it was amazing to me.
"Woah...." I said quite breathily. My mum quite clearly agreed with me. When we went inside, we were in awe even more. There were beautifully lit rooms with wood panelling, oak wood sideboards, you name it. My room was even better. It had a beige/cream carpet and a black rug, literal window seat, cabin bed with a laptop, Ipad and Iphone already there! I kept on thanking my mum, but she said it was all part of the house. Suddenly, her texttone rang again and she suddenly said: " Sorry Luke. I have to go in so my new boss can give me the ol' starters talk."
I mumbled a quiet 'it's fine.' before she grabbed her handbag and walked out the door.
