I wake up to a text message notification on my phone.
Hey Dyl. It's Melanie. I know I'm like the last person you want to talk to right now but I think we should. Meet me at the Coffee Grind at 10:30?
The Coffee Grind was the coffee place we used to go to every other morning.
I decided to text back.
I guess so. Can I bring the girls?
Of course! Jai's coming too.....
Not a problem.
I replied. I was planning on Matthew coming anyways so I didn't really care.
I got up as I heard the girls rocking their cribs back and forth.
I slapped Matt, leaving him with a small handprint, emphasized in red, on his back.
I laughed as he shrieked in pain.
"I love you, babe." I laughed as I kissed his cheek.
"Let's get the girls up. We're meeting Melanie and Jaiden for coffee at 10:30." I said.
"You do realize that gives us 20 minutes?" he reminded me.
"Then we better hurry!" I yelled as we speed to grab the girls, change their diapers, make their morning bottles, and put them in the car seats with 4 minutes to spare.
We slapped hands as Matthew jumped in Driver's and I rode Shotgun.
Driving to our destination was not very fun at all.
I was getting to the morning sickness point of my pregnancy, and I almost threw up all over everything on a 6 minute car ride.
I lifted up my shirt to reveal a very small bump.
"Come on baby boy, mama's dying up here!" I laughed as I rubbed my stomach.
I am now officially 24 weeks and healthy.
When we got to the Coffee Grind, we found Melanie and Jaiden waiting outside.
As I stepped out of the car, Matt reached over to grab my hand and help me down.
I look at him with a puzzled expression.
"Keeping chivalry alive." he smirked at me.
I pretended to curtesy in my yoga pants.
He laughed as he got the girls out of the car and put one on each hip.
We walked in with Melanie and Jaiden in front of us.
We sat down and let the girls sit in high chairs and share a blueberry muffin.
Jaiden couldn't keep his eyes off of them.
"Dada want?" Alyna asked, holding a piece of we muffin up to Matthew.
"Thank you Aly!" Matt replied as Alyna fed the muffin piece to him.
Jaiden looked at me with a hurt expression.
"Jaiden, you did this to yourself. You told me when you found out I was pregnant that you wanted nothing to do with the girls. After they were born, you starting getting better, and then you slept with my best friend!" I screamed at Jaiden.
I started crying as I ran out of the shop.
All I could hear was all of them arguing which one was going to go after me.
It ended up being Melanie.
"Dylin?" she silently whispered as my teary eyes turned to face her.
"What?" I retorted.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for today, I'm sorry for sleeping with Jaiden, and I'm sorry that I'm having his baby.
But, Dyl, sometimes there's things that you just can't help.
Now yes, I did purposely sleep with Jaiden, but I didn't mean to get pregnant. We used every kind of protection we could.
I was on the pill and everything.
I was terrified just like you were with the girls, but I couldn't give up on my baby." she said as she reached out to hug me.
I gladly accepted the hug, that was all I needed. Especially since I didn't know what was coming.
As we were walking inside, I stopped in my tracks.
"What's wrong?" Melanie asked.
"Get Matt. Now." I demanded.
She didn't hesitate once she realized what was happening.
I slowly looked down at the ground to reveal a small puddle of blood on the sidewalk.
