"Attacked? What do you mean?" Ben said with a worried look.
I picked up his wrist and showed him the bloody teeth marks. I then showed him mine. "That's what I mean, a sickly man and woman tried to eat us," I said pausing. "I killed them both before it was too late, but they were going after you first and I didn't know what else to do," I said, tears rolling down my cheeks."Hey hey hey it's okay. It was self defense, anyone would've done the same. It's okay," Ben said sitting up and pulling me into a hug.
My face buried itself into his neck and I sobbed. Ben rocked me back and forth trying to calm me down. I inhaled his cologne, that always seemed to sooth me, until I was eventually calm.
After about 30 minutes we got our stuff out of the trashed car and began to walk until our legs were jelly and the sun was slowly starting to rise. The walk was dead silent and no one drove by us, there was no sign of life, just the long tan grass on the sides of the empty worn down road.
"Wait, Max," Ben said holding me back. He pointed off into the distance at a bright shiny object. "What the hell is that?" He asked. I shrugged and pulled him along to see it better.
"Holy shit, a car," we announced. We hadn't seen a car or anything in hours.
We ran up to it, ignoring the pain in our legs and sides, and looked to see if anyone was in there. We scrambled to find anything to open it. As I was looking I heard a loud crash. I turned around, my eyes bulging out of my skull.
"I opened it," Ben said shyly opening the car door.
"A little warning would've been nice ya know? Almost pissed myself," I yelled angrily as Ben laughed.
I rolled my eyes and we cleaned out the glass and hotwired the car just to find the keys on the passager side floor. We looked at each other dumbfounded and sighed getting into the car.
"Shit, we're low on gas," Ben said tiredly.
"If we have enough we could go back and drain the gas from your car into this one," I said after a yawn.
Ben looked at me and pulled me into a kiss. "You're fucking brilliant," he said and drove back.
We eventually got back to the upside down car and were luckily able to get the gas out after a while of looking for tools, moving the car back over, and sucking on a plastic pipe to get the gas out. We were eventually back on our way to an unknown place.
After a couple hours of scream singing our favorite songs it started to get dark and our stomachs to rumble.
"Shit, I forgot the snacks in the other car," Ben said.
"We'll find an exit eventually, not like it really goes on forever," I said.Ben sighed and his stomach screamed in agony.
"When was the last you ate? Jeez," I said, astounded by the noise.
He shrugged and turned the music up louder.
