CHAPTER 23

The room had rows of benches split into two sides of the room.In the front were two desks for each person to sit across from.There was a place, where jury was supposed to sit.In the center of the room, the highest desk, was for the judge.And the room was already full.

The judge walked out of the door, a woman who was standing on the right side of the judge's desk, told everyone to stand up.The judge sat down and, tapped twice and the doors on the right opened up.Finally Mark walked in, handcuffed with two cops on each side of him.Mark sat, and the cops sat next to him.

The judge tapped again and that was for the start.

"Mayor Jones, You can come here" The officer said and he walked there and took a deep breath.He was going to talk against his own son.

"Now please, tell me what happened that night" The judge insisted.

"Your honor, I was in my office, working as always and I heard screams.I knew that Mia and my son were dating, and I knew that she was in my house.So I thought it was a random fight.But then I heard gun shots.I ran out from my office, and went there.Mia was bleeding and Mark was on the floor; crying.He shot her twice, I mean I heard two gunshots.He wasn't in his mind, he was drunk and was on drugs.I'm so sorry, I couldn't save him earlier, he is spoiled and that's my fault" The Mayor cried.

"Mayor Jones, we all make mistakes, then regret about it.It's not your fault."

Mia's brother; Alan started screaming "I will kill him wherever I see him.I want justice for my sister!" Guards ran, grabbed his hands and kicked him out of the room.Mia's mother, couldn't hold herself so she left too.Mr Joseph was alone in the court.

Mr Joseph was Mia's father,he hired the best lawyer in California, for his daughter's justice.

Suddenly Mrs Michelle stood up and talked.She was Mia's advocate.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury,the evidence and testimony that was presented in this court, tell a dark story about Mayor Jones's son; Mark Jones.He has a history of violent behavior.He is not old enough to use alcohol,to hold a gun.He has drug addiction.His gun was illegal.He always made fights and mess in every school that he graduated.So Mark Jones is cold-blooded killer, who killed the girl who he loved" Mrs Michelle pointed Mark when said these lines.The jury and audience let out gasps and then the court went quit again.

" All You say, is the truth, but lets hear what will tell us, Mark Jones advocate.Now Mrs Sonya,what can you say about you client" The judge was ready to hear.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we all know how kind and great our Mayor is.He even talking against his own blood.But lets not forget about, that Mark is immature and his friends are not good boys, they changed him, they taught him what are drugs,alcohol.And as he told me, he found that gun in the club" The judge tapped again.

"Well, do you have evidence of what you just told us Mrs Sonya?"

"Not yet, but I'll have them soon"

"If You can't prove it yet, then please, don't tell us things without any evidence." He turned his head and looked at Mark "Mark Jones, how can you explain your crimes?"

Mark stood up, turned his head down and walked to the officer.

"Your honor, I don't know how that happened, and I'm so scared right now" Mark was barely keeping his tears and breathing very heavily. "I'm sorry, but Mrs Sonya, You don't have to protect me anymore.I accept that I am guilty, I killed her.I killed the girl who I really loved.You don't know what you got, until it's gone.I'll agree with anything that you prepare for me" Mark was feeling shame and sense of guiltiness for the first time in his miserable life.

"Mark Jones, You made your punishment easier for yourself.You did the right thing, I respect that and now it's time to discuss this judge" The judge went into the room behind his desk, the jury left, and they took Mark back.

They were going to discuss his time and crimes.Considering he killed his girlfriend, used drugs, used alcohol, had an illegal gun.
