The new fae

A loud crash causes me to literally fly off my bed and onto the floor.

"Clank!" A familiar voice hisses. "What are you going to say if you've broken her wings, or worse?"

I push myself up, giggling. "You know," I groan as I stretch out my wings. "There are simpler ways to wake me up, and those do not include -" My vision sharpens and I notice that Bobble and Clank were hovering over what looked like my door. "You broke down my door!" It was not a question. I was on my feet in an instant, staring at what remained of my door.

"We couldn't get a sound out of you, miss Bell," Bobble says.

"And your door was locked." Clank adds, as though it would help.

Funny, how one finds excuses for doing irrational things.

I stretched out my wings and flew over to them, my face bright red. Only, I didn't actually reach them, I collapsed about a tenth of the way. I hear Clank curse and the sound of my two friends coming over to me.

"See, I told you, didn't I, Clanky. I told you this could've happened. But no, you didn't listen." Bobble lifts his head and lands on the floor beside me. "Are you okay Tink? Do we need to get fairy Mary?"

I stand up and look over my shoulder at my wings. My right wing was fine, much to my relief. It was the left one that nearly stopped my heart. I had a tear running through it from the tip to a point just above the base. Peri was probably going to kill me.

"Miss Bell!" Clank exclaims, his hands covering his mouth.

"Right, what was it that was so important that you just felt you needed to break down my door to tell me?" I demand, looking from Clank, who was shifting his weight from side to side, to Bobble, who was refilling his glasses with a water droplet.

"We have a new arrival, and Peri's going to be there and we came to get you, but ... well ... er..." Bobble looks at my wing, studying the length of the damage. He whistles through his teeth. "You're not gonna be able to go anywhere with that wing. It's barely hanging on as it is."

"Get Peri. I've got ice in the fridge, just get her to hurry. And -"

"Got it. We'll be quick - if Peri's not speeding along like Vidia..."

Bobble and Clank depart, leaving me to fret about my wing.

If the tear became too much then it could tear of fully, taking the outer half of my wing with it, meaning that I couldn't fly... And if I couldn't fly then I would have to walk. If I had to walk, then I wasn't quite a fairy like everyone else. If I wasn't a fairy then I didn't belong. And if I didn't belong then -

"TINK!" My sister greeted. Or rather, she almost screamed in horror as she stared at the tear.

"Yeah. That's sorta why I'm still here. Now, would you -"

"Course. Do not move that wing. Rosetta, hold it steady." As she says this, my friends fly in.

Fawn gasps at my wing and Rosetta hurries to it as Peri lowers her wings so they aline with mine. Rosetta holds my wing delicately, keeping it in place as Peri raises it with her own.

Despite the delicacy in her touch and the slow lifting, the process made my wing throb and me feel light headed. Vidia was at my side in an instant, holding me up.

"Can you hurry this up?" She snaps. "This whole thing is torture!"

"She's not wrong. Look." Fawn's voice sounded distant despite the fact that she was right in front of me. "She's draining."

"Shoot," Iridessa cursed, her voice sounding far away. "Vidia, get Terrence. Sil, find some ice. Peri's not gonna be much better than Tink after this."
