Ch.8~The Final Battle...?

   You looked up at King Boo with wide, pained eyes, confused and although you wouldn't admit, you felt scared. Your body ached, like a sore pain after working out once in a long time. You didn't want to move, it would only make it worse. On top of that, you were too dazed to know what to do in such a situation. Having shards sink into your skin, your lovely king crouching over you with panic all over his face, Luigi fighting for not only the princesses' freedom, but for you. It was too much, and way too stressful. You weren't one to break another's heart, at least not on purpose. You would feel guilty if you rejected Luigi, but you didn't see him as anything more than a friend.

You thought that the painting of Mario would have worked, but Luigi was determined to have you. However, a sudden, small voice called to you, "(Y/n)... Snap out of it, (Y/n)." It was King Boo, looking at you with worried eyes. Once you blinked a few times, you felt him hug you closer, glad that you seemed okay for the most part. He helped you sit up and you groaned, leaning against his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around you gently and held you close, leaving a gentle kiss on your forehead. You smiled softly, closing your eyes. He pulled you a bit closer, wanting to cuddle. However this soft moment was ruined rather quickly, when a loud roar was heard from Bowser.

You looked up to see Bowser and Petey defeated, passed out on the ground. Mario had freed the princesses, who didn't hesitate to give their gratitude. You couldn't help but glance over to Luigi, seeing his expression fall. He seemed to realize that King Boo was right, Mario was always the hero of the day, even if Luigi was the one who freed him in the first place. Luigi's expression grew dark, and he frowned, taking an odd looking device from his pocket. King Boo began to float to help you stand, standing you up until you could do it yourself. You groaned in pain, taking deep breathes as King Boo whispered in your ear, telling you the pain would go away soon and that he was there for you. You shook your head, your gaze staying fixed on the object in Luigi's hand. "King Boo?... What is that?" You asked in a cautious voice. He turned to look, confused about what the object was. Luigi suddenly looked up, glaring at King Boo.

"Luigi, what are you doing? We haven't tested that thing, who knows what it could do!" The Professor yelped, grabbing Luigi's arm. Luigi yanked his arm away and suddenly activated the object, and a blue glow began emitting from it as a small noise came from it, like an alien object revving up. Luigi suddenly threw the object directly at King Boo, and you watched it as if the world was on slow motion. King Boo was too puzzled by the object to move, and it suddenly hit him in the gut, dropping to his feet. He looked at the object curiously, seeming to not hear your screams for him to move. Suddenly, bolts of electricity shot out and seemed to wrap around King Boo, shocking the life out of him. He screamed in agonizing pain, being wrapped up in these horrific electric strings. You couldn't help but watch in paralyzing fear, unsure of what to do.

A hand grabbed your arm and yanked you towards the exit, and you looked over to see Luigi. "Luigi, cut it out! Make it stop, you're hurting him!" You cried, but he did nothing but drag you to the exit. "Enough!" You yelled, grabbing his arm and throwing him to the ground with surprising strength. You glared at Luigi, who looked back up at you in fear. You didn't know, but your eyes had turned black, but instead of vanishing the next second, they stayed black. "Why don't you understand?!" You yelled, tears streaming down your cheeks as you were forced to listen to the king's cries. Luigi sat up, looking at you with disbelief, "Why don't I understand? (Y/n), he's a ghost! An evil entity! I'm not hurting him, he's a GHOST! That's all he is, he's already dead!"

This made you angry, but you knew it was true. King Boo was just a ghost, someone who was already dead. However, you didn't care if people thought you looked weird dating a ghost. You loved him. "Luigi, so what if he's a ghost? People have fallen in love with much weirder things, hell, your own brother fell for Bowser after he wore some possessed crown!"

Mario was suddenly paying attention and let out a gentle, "Mama mia!" And you heard Bowser let out a disgusted grunt, even while being passed out. Luigi blinked, and Peach gave Mario a dirty look. "That's not the point-" you mentally face palmed, groaning softly. You went to continue, but you heard a sudden screech, much like the normal 'bleh' noises a boo would make. You turned to see King Boo collapsed, the electric strings still wrapped around his body. You noticed something that broke your heart; King Boo was fading. He looked at you with a pained expression, his eyes pleading for help, but at the same time, wishing you would always remember him before he died for good. "Luigi, make it stop!" You yelled, tears in your eyes. Luigi shook his head, keeping his guard up, "He deserves to die, (Y/n)!"

"NO!" You yelled, growling under your breath. You suddenly grabbed the Poltergust and swung the tube forward right into Luigi's stomach, causing him to fall back and gasp for air, having the air knocked out of him. You ran over to King Boo, panicking. Suddenly, the adrenaline kicked in and you couldn't stop yourself. You suddenly reached forward, grabbing the electric strings. You felt pain surge through your body; first it felt like a shock, and then a horrid, stinging pain that wouldn't go away. King Boo looked at you with wide eyes as you wrestled the strings off of him, and suddenly you slammed your foot down on the device, destroying it once and for all. Your eyes had gone back to normal, and you suddenly fell back, too weak to carry your own weight. You didn't feel the impact of the ground, instead you felt a soft, strange comfort under you. King Boo was holding you close to him, his eyes closed from how weak he felt. You couldn't feel him like a normal person, he felt more like an odd form of air, that was soft but transparent.

You felt your vision fading from you, and you saw Luigi start taking steps towards you before Mario grabbed his hand, and there was a loud roar. The last thing you saw was the Professor, the princesses, Mario, and Luigi disappear in thin air, and Bowser and Petey took on their human forms once more. Then your vision slowly faded black, the last thing heard was a soft, loving voice.

"Don't worry, I have you, you're going to be safe in my arms, (Y/n), we'll make it together..."
