I looked around the mansion as I stepped inside. Everything looks the same. Our family picture still hang near the stairs.

"Miss Skylar, I already put your luggages in your room," Charlie said, our caretaker. He sounded displeased.

"Thank you," I said.

"Lora is still preparing for your dinner. You can wash up first if you want."

"Alright," I nodded and climbed up stairs.

I feel like I'm not welcome in this mansion anymore or are they still mourning for the death of my parents?

I strip all my clothes before stepping into the bathroom.

After my parents died, I decided to go back here from New York. Charlie tried to stop me for the reason I don't even know. The mansion is the only thing my parents left to me at hindi ko ito pababayaan.

After I took a shower I went downstairs when Charlie knocked on my door, telling me the dinner's ready.

"Eat with me," I told them but they shook their heads. Now that my parents left me, sila nalang ang pamilyang natitira sa akin but they still treat me like their boss. I don't want that.

I ate in silence. I honestly lost my appetite when they refused me. I went back to my room when I'm done. I dialed Krissy's number and she picked it up.

"Hey, what's up? Did you arrive safely?"

"Yes, I did," I said.

"You sound upset. Something happened?" I can imagine her worried expression.

"Nope. I'm fine. Jet lagged lang siguro," I reasoned out.

"You should've have taken a rest first. You can call me again when you're okay."

"Okay. Bye, Kris," then I hung up.

I lay down on my bed, staring at the ceiling and let my tears fall. I miss my parents.

Without realizing it, I fell asleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night. I screamed when I saw a man sitting beside me. It was so dark that I can't see his face. The door of my room flung open at pumasok si Charlie.

"What is it, Miss Skylar?!" He quickly turned on the lights.

.

"There's a man..." I stopped when I saw no one. "He was right here!"

Binigyan niya ako ng nakakaawang tingin. "I think you're just tired, Miss Skylar. Go back to sleep."

Napahawak ako sa aking ulo. Gosh. That was embarrassing.

I woke up and saw a rose on my side table. I automatically smiled. Charlie must've put it there. He has the same age as my dad and he doesn't have a family. Same with Lora. They are like my parents. Without them, I don't know what to do anymore.

I brushed my teeth before I went downstairs.

"Thanks for the rose, Charlie," I said as I sat on the dinning table.

"A rose?" He looked puzzled.

"Hindi ba sa'yo galing yung red rose na nasa side table ko?"

Bigla siyang namutla at napalunog. I wanted to ask him if there's something wrong but Lora came in and told me to taste the breakfast she made for me.

I still have a week bago ako bumalik sa trabaho ko at gusto ko munang i-enjoy ang sarili ko. I decided to walked around the garden.

I sat on a bench and observed the whole place. I wonder why my parents sent me to New York at an early age. Siguro ay hinding-hindi ko na malalaman ang rason kung bakit.
